(MRAILING EDIT - This hack is only needed on WM2003, WM5 does not need a hack for WLAN and Phone at the same time, as it's already enabled.)
Attached is a new hacked wlan.dll driver that will allow you to turn on and off wifi without the phone turning off. This hack is seperate from the 2 previous attempts and if you applied them, they should be undone. As always this is still being tested so please report any problems.
To install just copy the dll in the attached zip over the one in the \windows directory of the phone.
Edit:
After copying over the dll you will need to soft-reset.
SD welcome back thanks for the fix.
One general question - I don't use the Wireless plugin. In the past I used the WIFI antenna icon to access its settings once WIFI is activated. I don't see that icon with the phone activated does anyone know how to access the WIFI settings, such as choosing the network to attach to without the icon or plugin?
How do you get the attached shortcut to work on the i730? I put the file onto my storage card and tried to execute it and it didn't work. Also, how do you force the i730 to use the WiFi connection as opposed to the dial up VZ connection and vice versa?

Just installed and seems to work great!! I was on my WiFi at home and able to place and receive calls. Speakerphone works fine. This should make the i730 owners very happy. Thanks!!!
Hey guys, I'm not having any luck restoring the old Key and Value. It keeps wanting to put it in a separate folder in the Interfaces folder. It won't allow me to place it back.
I was putting the unzipped file on my i730 I'll try unzipping it and try again when I'm back at my desktop. my one question still remaining, it seems that even with WiFi on the phone dials up on VZ's network for a internet connection instead of using the available WiFi connection. is thre any way to force it to use the WiFi connection when available and only if not to dial up VZ?

After replacing the wlan.dll, I cannot perform active sync with my desktop (I can still sync with my email server, I think). The commputer does not recognize the USB device/phone. When i replace the file with the original one, everything get back to normal.
Has anyone else faced this issue with this fix?
thanks,
After the change of the file I COULD still Sync via USB, but I did get a prompt to allow traffic via activesync to this device as a firewall precaution.
I am guessing the people who are having this issue have XP with SP2 installed. Turn off your firewall, reboot and try then. If you can sync then you know the firewall is the problem.
