Attached is a dll that will completly stop the phone from turning off wifi while the phone is on. The old way is no longer nescessary and the phone will not turn off now when initially turning on wifi. This should also take care of the random phone cut offs when the wifi resets.
Copy the included dll over the existing one in the windows directory using Total Commander.
Still testing as to if anything else is affected, but, so far everything works good.
thats the way u do it, u cant see it on your phone or through active sync, invisable
go here get this, install this, then open it and find the file dave created, open active sync explorer, drag file from total comander thing to active sync explorer windows directy, tell it u promise its ok to overwrite it .. hee
dave can u also attach a copy of the original file below the zip u created for any of use fools <-- like myself who want to revert back .. jsut in case fingers crossed .. hee
The original file is in ROM, so if you overwrite it with this file, it will store this file in RAM. When this file is deleted, it will automatically look for the one in ROM.
No need to back it up, it will restore itself after you remove this file.

I get the following error after installing the dll and resetting.
"Phone module connection failure! Click OK to reset the phone module."
It then dials the data connection and my 1x icon is gone. I can not receive calls. I tried making an outbound call and was told I had to end the data connection first. I did so and then could make outbound calls and receive calls.
I removed the dll and everything seems back to normal. FYI, I removed everything from my today screen just to make sure and it didn't make any difference.
This is the rcd driver from one of the test models. There is bound to be some differerences, I don't think anything will stop working though. It is still being tested.
Just to test this I did a Hard Reset, dumped the dll over to the phone.
After every soft reset I get a "Phone Watcher" Error:
Phone module connection failure! Click OK to reset the phone module.
The phone is off, and as soon as I click OK it activates the phone.
I also have no 1x or EVDO icon.

i had the same initial error like everyone else but it worked itself out after 2 soft resets. i already removed my EVDO icon using the other hack that SD posted a couple days ago though.
