Wifi and Phone together 2

Attached is a dll that will completly stop the phone from turning off wifi while the phone is on. The old way is no longer nescessary and the phone will not turn off now when initially turning on wifi. This should also take care of the random phone cut offs when the wifi resets.

Copy the included dll over the existing one in the windows directory using Total Commander.

Still testing as to if anything else is affected, but, so far everything works good.

Big thanks to Jerry!

,Dave

Any tips on backing up the original RCD.dll? Renaming it, or copying it yields an error that the file cannot be found.

I can see it thru Resco file explorer. I just want to be safe and back up the original one in case I need to restore it.

SpineDoc

The original file is in ROM, so if you overwrite it with this file, it will store this file in RAM. When this file is deleted, it will automatically look for the one in ROM.

No need to back it up, it will restore itself after you remove this file.

I get the following error after installing the dll and resetting.
"Phone module connection failure! Click OK to reset the phone module."
It then dials the data connection and my 1x icon is gone. I can not receive calls. I tried making an outbound call and was told I had to end the data connection first. I did so and then could make outbound calls and receive calls.
I removed the dll and everything seems back to normal. FYI, I removed everything from my today screen just to make sure and it didn't make any difference.

This is the rcd driver from one of the test models. There is bound to be some differerences, I don't think anything will stop working though. It is still being tested.

Just to test this I did a Hard Reset, dumped the dll over to the phone.

After every soft reset I get a "Phone Watcher" Error:

Phone module connection failure! Click OK to reset the phone module.

The phone is off, and as soon as I click OK it activates the phone.

I also have no 1x or EVDO icon.

Thats weird, I have not had any problems. There maybe another dll I copied over that makes mine ok. I'll try to see if I can narrow it down.

this hack is pretty cool cause all i need to do is enable wifi and if it doesnt find an AP it autoswitches to EVDO.
