This will completly remove the icon, you will not get any notification of the type. Copy a 0k file named datamodeicon.exe over the existing file in the windows dir.
You could also copy the datamodeicon.exe app to another name elsewhere. In case you wanted to run it and see the signal type.
Originally posted by 3goldens excuse my ignorance but could someone tell me why one would want to do this? Does it conserve power, or is it just an asthetic thing?
Asthetic thing.. Keeps the top bar a little cleaner..
i would like to get rid of 1x and have missed calls and VM there instead, also txt msgs but not as much as missed or VM.....atleast one of the 2, most importantly missed calls notification.
How do I copy a file over that file in the Windows directory? When I attempt to do this, I get an "Access is Denied" error. I'm using File Explorer to Copy and Paste the files. Is there another way?
Hey Nobody... just a guess, but try turning off your phone and resetting, then copying over it. If you don't reset, the exe (icon) may still be considered in use by the system. I would guess that restarting with the phone off would preclude the system trying to access that exe.
Still no joy. "Access is denied. Make sure that the disk is not full or write-protected and the file is not currently in use." I turned the phone off and reset the device by the bottom button with the stylus, then used File Explorer to copy and paste the file. I get the error when I try to paste.
Okay ... I created a 0B file with notes ... named it datamodeicon.exe ... put it in the windows folder on the phone ... and still .. I have the dang icon
What did I screw up?

That's the place, right? We visit there every year or two when we go to Newport for the boat show. It is one of my in-law's favorite places.
BTW, that picture was clipped from a larger one I took a few days after 9/11. We decided to go to the boat show despite the current events of the time. It helped get our minds off it a little. We live in the immediate NYC area and CT.
