The WiFi network that we have work seems to require a combination of ID/Password for the initial authentication, but also being logged into a domain from what we can tell. Does anyone know how to log into a domain from a PPC? I have searched the net and even checked books at the bookstore with no luck. The odd thing is, I can't even find anyone else asking this -- which makes me think it is really obvious and I shouldn't even be asking.
In case it helps, the security is Bluesocket (no relation to bluetooth). The process is such that you enter ID and PW, receive a certificate that appears to expire after the current browser session (but is good for all network activities until the "authorizing browsing session" is closed). On machines that come from work, the process works fine. On machines that are not part of our domain, it does not appear to work at all. That is the reason I am thinking it is related to being member of a domain somehow.
Update: I just recalled that we thought about the fact that it might be MAC-based, but we have folks that use their own WiFi cards on their work laptops and it still works successfully.
DeathNight... we you expanding on the terminal services idea, or do you mean that I should enter this somewhere else? I have found no where to enter domain or userid info.
Maybe I am being dense, but since there is no VPN server when using my laptop, I do not know what I would VPNing to with the PDA.
I'm actually a very geeky guy, and it frustrates the heck out me that I missing something in all this!!! I'm the one everyone else comes to figure this stuff out!
drzeller I miss read your post sorry, I though u where asking how to log into a domain , but after this weekend, I understand your problem. Unfortunitly I dont know the work around....
Connecting to my home network, via wifi on my i700 I had no problems making a TS connection to one of my XP boxes, however this weekend I was trying to connect to my workstation and got this goofy message too. I know i am connected, because I can see the device on the device on the router, and I can surf the web and check e-mail. But its a nogo on making a TS connection.... I am still scratching my head. I do get a DHCP addy, havent tryed to ping the i730 yet. I know I can make TS connection from another device...but its a nogo on the i730.
I haven been able to trouble shoot the problem further, because my main computer took a dump on me, and had to reinstall. I love XP64, but it didnt play nice with this new crappy game I installed.
Hey guys. I dont know a 100% if this is the same issue your having, but PPC 2003 has a connection issue with terminal servers. This was related to my old H6315 that I traded in for this device. But this "fix" also fixed my I730. Here is the link.
Like I said. I dont know if this is exactly your issue, but basically it installs another TS client in Programs named TSC and you use that one to connect and it will let you connect.
If it isnt a fix then all I can say is I was just trying to help.
