OK question here: I have my i730 syncing fine when in the cradle, but I want to set it up to wireless sync with my laptop also when I want it to, not on a schedule.
All my systems are wireless in my house, DHCP from the wireless router. Any ideas how I would go about doing this ?
Example:
Cradle is conected to system named: william-laptop
I want to wireless sync with system of same name.
If I understand your question, this is not what Wireless Sync does.
It is an application that uses a remote VZW server to maintain your info - contacts, calendar, notes, etc.
You can set it up to sync from your i730 to their remote server or three-way between your i730, their remote server and your computer (I think it needs to be running Exchange, but not sure about this because I don't do it....just what I have read).
What you may be wanting to do (is it?) is use ActiveSync wirelessly...like through bluetooth or wi-fi. I have no idea how that works.

Yes, this is what I am wanting to do, useing my wifi network at home.
How do you do this? I want to be able to send and receive email from my work account, which is an exchange server. I have the account setup, but when I get a new email, it does not show up on the i730 without being connected to the cradle. Any thoughts?
Look at the Wireless Sync quick start guide on one of the CD's. I think it is the Getting to know your new Phone..
I could not get it to work until I did a hard reset.
I set it up to synch via my POP3 account. It works fine although there is a bit of a lag (15mins or more) before it gets redirected to my i730.
The setup for exchange is very similar. Be sure to read everything. You don't want to ActiveSynch and Wireless SYnch the same things you could get double records, etc. It covers all that in the instructions.
Well, I got syn onto my PC, but it says it cannot find exchange server. Is there a troubleshooting method for this? There is no documentation for this app, not even a contact us link.
You're sure you use an Exchange server? I assume this is your work account. Since I didn't use Exchange server I can't help you too much. There is a Quick start for Exchange which you should read.
There is asetup screen where you check off what you want to ActiveSynch. You should uncheck all the PIM stuff: Calendar, Contacts, inbox, tasks, notes. Probably you wont use ActiveSynch for anything except maybe favorites. I don't think you need activesynch if you get wireless synch setup.
That is for Corporate Exchange mail only. I need active synch with internet mail since that is all that gets "pushed" to me. I use active synch for contacts, calendar, etc.
Yeah, this is for work and we are using Outlook 2003, so I am assuming we are using an exchange server. How do you tell? I unchecked all the contacts and such like you recommended from Active sync...
I think i can answer this question completely when I am home. I know exactly what you want to do and I have done that for years w/ my X3i on my campus. I can write up a guide in a bit. Your on the right track but I dont want to guess at the procedure. I'll be setting this up on my phone and computer when I get home. (Yipee it arrived this morning, haven't been home yet to play!)

Dude, you would be the MAN if you could help me with this. I am running around in circles trying to do this. I blitzed my calendar earlier trying to do thi.
Question: What does the wireless synch client do on my PC if I use POP mail? It doesn't seemto have any purpose. I assume it is used for corporate Exchange servers.
In this thread they're talking about two different types of Syncing.
1. Verizon Wireless Sync. This is a piece of software you run on your desktop that lets you sync your contacts, e-mail, etc. while on the road using Verizon's Network and software.
2. WiFi Syncing. If you are hooked up with WiFi, you can sync with your computer without having to drop your device into a cradle. Bluetooth also has the ability to do this.
From skimming this thread they want to do WiFi syncing.
What I am going to do when I get my device here tomorrow, is first setup a VPN connection back to my house. Then, use the network syncing (WiFi) to connect to my PC and sync my data over the internet connection. This way I can sync without having to use Verizon's software.
What Verizon's software does is that is communicates through the router for you, without having to foward ports, or having a VPN connection. It basically takes the place of the cradle over their network. And yes, it does allow you to sync with an Exchange server as well.

Yea they want number 2 and I was going to try to explain later when I get home what to do. If you know what they want and how to do it go ahead and explain. I'm short on time till I get home from work.
