THE i730 add on software thread

Okay, basically I want to start this thread so that people who are new to the PDA phone community can see what their options are for good addon windows programs.. Also I feel like this will be a good thread for veterans to be able to see what else is out there that they may not know about...

Basically just post your reply about any kind of software that you have installed on the i730 and answer the following questions:

1) Software name/company
2) How others can get it/price
3) What it does
4) How well did it install on the i730, any problems?
5) Other software that you have tried that does the same as this. And why this is better than others.
6) Things that you do not like about it.

Feel free to add any other criteria to your posts! Hopefully we can all learn a thing or two.

And where did you install it--SD card, main memory, or safestore.

software on my i730

I installed in the default locations:
all are current versions:

handbase, great database like Filemaker,
gave me an error "designed for earlier OS, may not display correctly".

ewallet, iliumsoft.com
same error

xconverter, softatics.com
great converter of all items
Installed 2 shortcut icons on my programs tab, I just deleted 1

all programs work fine so far

Pocket Informant 2005- Safestore

Phone Alarm V1.13.02 - Definitely do not install anywhere other than Main memory

MarsWare Weather Panel 2.0 - Safestore

That's it so far, I will be installing NC Software's Logbook Pro this weekend. It will go into Safestore//

All the software I had on the i700 work on the i730...........except that you have to contact the vendor and tell them you have a new device so they can issue a new password, code or a new registration number based on the type of software you purchased. WisBar died in the 730........so no go for me on that.
SPB Plus
Handy Menu
Vito Voice Dialer
Imaginet Fingerclicxen
SD AutoStep is a no go....freezes up unit and must hard reset.
did not have to re-install AS......just delete the old partnership.
DONOT use the OLD i700 Back-up !!!!!!!!! dont say I did not caution you........I have paid a price on that already.......dang Hard reset.........
File Transfer awesome thru BT or Wi-Fi.either to SD card or main memory.
battery lasts 6hours on regular phone use+PDA
extended battery lasts 8 hours on regular phone use+PDA
Wi-Fi kills battery after 3hours
BT headset stays apired for ever even after you move far away from unit and lose a call..then when you get close to it, it works again.........what a relief for me.......

How about Battery Pack Pro? The app-close button is a must for me, never liked that "keep it running in the background" stuff. Any cheaper alternatives to that?

I am a big fan of Dinar Soft apps... particularly Handy Menu.
I also am a big fan of penguin software.

Two things to keep in mind as we progress down what could become a huge and tangent-heavy thread when we don't have enough violins, oars or lifeboats:

1. Many excellent recommendations already exist in the site archives from the i700 and 6600 launches.

2. We really might benefit more from threads that are specific to an application. Like all in one sentence, I can go from PocketWinc to ListPro to ConcreteUdder and Astraware games to Mobipocket to JournalBar to PhoneDashboard to Sunnysoft Plus!, but what did that accomplish?

FWIW, those are all apps I've been using for over a year and would never do without. If it helps anyone to get a great Wifi monitor and something that can track minutes against plan and account for mobile to mobile being free, then power to the people.

Essentail software question???

Okay, my i730 has shipped thanks to my rep (best in Texas!) and tracking looks good...should be in my hand tomorrow morning.

Now, I did have the i700 about 6 months ago (been using a Blackberry 7250...blasphemy!) and I remember seeing several threads on software that enhanced the PPC/phone.

Just wondering what either those of you that already have it have loaded on it, or those that are going to recieve it.

I usually load the following on any PocketPC (phone or otherwise):

SPB PocketPlus
Pocket Mechanic
Resco Explorer (file manager)
Memmaid
Tweaks2k2

Any other software that might enhance the phone side of things?

I'd like to see the OP updated with a compatibility chart so that we can see the important information on the first page: name of product and if it works in Main Memory Only, Safe Store, or the Storage Card.

I agree. It would be much easier to look for an email program in a thread called "Email Apps" rather than "software". Especially for us PPC newbies who have no idea what these programs do!

Thanks for the info, and I agree with cubs. Make the thread title as descriptive as possible. I need to know what to load when I get my phone tomorrow. Christmas for the next few years came early!

Phone Edition-specific add-on programs?

This will be my first Phone Edition unit. (I have a Kyo 7135 and a Toshiba e805 right now.) I'd be interested in hearing what the best phone-specific apps are from you experienced Phone Edition users.

Is there a good app for logging calls/time used?

There are a few "profiles" apps I'd be interested in, and I'm curious if ya'll have tried these?

Phone Profiles
PPCProfiles-Pro
PocketZenPhone

The i730 is configured for MW5 and I am looking for software that was designed for that.

OFFICIAL best FREE i730 software

What free 3rd party apps does everyone recommend? Anything from programs to games to wallpaper. The only condition is that it must be free to download (not shareware).

Discuss...
