There has already been content published by VZW (that new web page, for example) that implies that OBEX has been removed/disabled.
I believe the copy that says this most clearly is: "It does not support all profiles for object exchange (OBEX)" on this page: http://www.vzwshop.com/samsungi730info/
"It does not support all profiles for object exchange (OBEX)"
well i am sure it does.... it does state that it does not support "all profiles" but from what i have seen it says yes. that was the exact list of supported bluetooth profiles.....

HFP ...
Is that the Hands Free Protocol that exists in the Acura TL? Just bought the TL and I won't get the i730 unless the BT is compatible w/ the car.
I had bought Socket SD BT but am told it's not compatible w/ the TL. anyone? Thanks for the help in advance.

yes you should have no problem with your Acura, most auto companies are using the same HFP nowadays, Acura, BMW, Lexus, Merc, etc...
It should work just fine.... some of the different cars have problems getting the contacts to sync.... and show up on the lcd display in the car but it's getting better now. which Acura do you have (model/year) and i'll look... the i730 is 1.0 so it shoud work even if your car has either 1.0 or 1.1 BT...

When you get it for the 15 day worry free gaurentee try this out... everywhere i found it the instructions for the WM 2003 Se devices were the same......
Good luck
IMPORTANT: You must press and release the HandsFreeLink talk button on the steering wheel and wait for the beep before you speak. This step is required before all spoken commands.
Power on the phone and ensure Bluetooth® is ON. Please refer to your phone's user guide for steps to turn on Bluetooth.
Press and release the Talk button on the steering wheel and wait for the "beep" before you speak. Repeat this step before all spoken commands.
Say "phone setup"
Say "pair"
Say any 4 digit PIN code for pairing. Remember it as you will need to enter it into your phone later. HandsFreeLink will now instruct you to begin the pairing process in the phone.
On the PPC device, select the Bluetooth icon
Select Bluetooth Manager
Select NEW
Select Hands-Free/Headset Setup
Select NEXT
Phone will now search for a hands-free device
HandsFreeLink should appear on device list- Choose HandsFreeLink
Select FINISH
The phone will now ask you to enter a PIN code
Enter the 4 digit PIN from earlier step and press OK
When prompted say the desired phone name
You should hear “Pairing Successful”

The TL system is compatible with Bluetooth-enabled cell phones that have the Hands Free Profile (HFP). After an initial, one-time "pairing" process, the TL communicates wirelessly and securely with the driver's cell phone when it's within about 30 feet of the car. The phone needs to be on, but can be stowed in a pocket, briefcase or purse-anywhere inside the vehicle cabin.
so it looks good from here..................

Even though Verizon explicitly says it doesn't? I haven't seen a unit yet, but that footnote from VZW seems pretty unequivocal...

I am telling you man..... it will have OBEX support...... if you check all of my posts i have never posted hear say. My posts are always fact... unless it's simply my opnion. i have seen the actual Verizon "Blutooth supported" list for the actuall i730. and that is what it states.....
even look back.... on 6/8/05 I posted the info about the DUN being disabled
If you're right, then Verizon is contradicting themselves (but I'm sure that wouldn't be the first time).
As I said, I have no knowledge on the matter whatsoever except that the web page goes out of its way to add a footnate saying that OBEX is disabled.
I have no agenda or vested interest either way. I don't even know whether OBEX is on my XV6600, so I have no sense what I can or can't do with OBEX except possibly circumvent Get It Now that isn't on there anyway -- or so other posters have hypothesized about its removal. It seems to me that I can transfer anything I need to to my XV6600 over ActiveSync or Windows netwok connections anyway.
Keep in mind that standard, single company-wide Bluetooth page was written for the Moto v710 and hasn't been updated since. It is entirely possible that VZW product management doesn't have to time to obsess about the rectum of a gnat enough to correct their OBEX statement wrt an i730.
Originally posted by Germanguy Bluetooth 1.0? That cannot be good. I thought 1.2 is the latest.
The first Sammy that sclevan received only had BT 1.0 on it, but he did state that it appeared to be the original OS release (no special apps installed).
Both sclevan and Jerry seem to have a newer edition now. They could probably confirm/deny BT 1.1, or you can wait a few more days as it appears to be ready for B2B customers.
