Sorry I missed this thread, between the i730 coming out and the e815 its been hard to keep up. Right now though I don't have either of them. I did get to borrow a e815 and was able to get obex going on it though. You guys rock, I can't accept anything though unless there is something I can do in return. Normally I would just pick them up myself, but, this is one of those rare times where i'm tight on funds (two kids and a wife will do that to ya, heh). If you guys are still having trouble and there something I can do, let me know.

,Dave

There are two major issues right now:

1. WiFi and Phone capabilities at the same time.

2. Bluetooth DUN

These are the two issues that people are most talking about, and what we currently want to get fixed to get the device uncrippled.

Hopefully you can help us get both to be working again. Samsung says Verizon disabled them, but the phone supports this natively, so we think it's a matter of registry problems, or a missing applet to launch them.

We would be greatful for any help!

Ok, NeedVideo & JerryNYCom...

SD's baaack. So now let's (yep, us) get going on Paypal so he can get going. Since NeedVideo started asking for funds, how about him/her posting so we can get going. If he/she won't, Jerry? If not, I'll initiate. I'm just 'ready' for the help we can get. If I can help coord, please let me know. I'll certainly contribute (&, if asked, keep a log of contributions, etc, etc). Maybe a new thread (sticky, y'all?) ... Someone kick this off!

Thanks
John

I would like to add to the list

The ability to use the a BT headset with Voice Command the same as can be done with Voice (lack of) Signal.

SuperDave, welcome back. We sure missed ya!

The whole wi-fi and phone thing and the bluetooth modem thing would be awesome.

Also, the fact that the backlight goes off just after an outgoing call connects is a royal pain sometimes.

Also, if someone wants the keyboard to stay lit longer than 8 seconds, they can't.

Also, would like to know how to make the phone work as a modem with a Mac!

Oh, and would love to have your phonelock work for this phone...not the phonelock part (the hardware does that nicely) but the picture id phone dialog which I loved on the i700.

That's my list and I, too, would be delighted to contribute to get you a phone to work on this stuff. Just say "YES" and I'm over to PayPal.

First priorities...

JerryNYCom said he'd sell at his cost. I'm generally not one to initiate these things, but I'll do if someone says go ahead. I'd start a new thread, for the express purpose of tracking current contribs. Wouldn't post amounts by person, but would post a running total, updating 3-5 times a day. We could run for a week, or until some amount is reached. I'd contact Jerry for cost, keep a log of PP contributions & use a two-person rule for accounting for the funds. I'd get the funds to Jerry (or I could perchase thru him using my PP account), etc, etc.

The basic issue, imho, is: Time is of the essence here. What you-all think? 'Course someone else (Jerry?) could pick this up, & I'd see that. I'll look back here w/in a few hrs for replies.

John

I am starting an area in the FAQ just for current issues that still need to be resolved and will update these as times arise. This way we can refer to one place to find out what still needs to be done.

I will be posting this information in the 2nd post of the FAQ, and the FAQ will list this as such. Once we get answers to those items, I will move them up into the FAQ.

Veloslave - The use of Voice Command over bluetooth has been discussed in numerous threads. The problem is directly related to Voice Command, and the fact it has not been coded to use bluetooth. Microsoft is aware of this issue and is supposedly going to add this to the next version, or sometime thereafter. The reason Voice Signal works over the headset is that Voice Signal directly coded that into their software, and that's why it works.

In another thread, another user has made a file specifically allowing the use of Voice Command on the Voice Signal button, including using the Bluetooth Headset button to launch Voice Command.

This is the thread:
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/showt...threadid=51188

Voice Signal has a starter applet that looks for the bluetooth headset button to be pressed, then launches VoiceSignal.exe. VoiceSignal.exe is what talks with the headset bluetooth profile and allows you to hear and talk through the headset.

Hopefully Microsoft will get on the ball and release a new version of the software. If you want to write them and tell them you want it, here is Microsoft's Official Voice Command website:

http://www.microsoft.com/voicecommand

Glad SD has hopefully deceided to help us out here. Check out the second post in the FAQ within the next day or so and you will see the new section on know problems waiting to be updated.

That is correct and also is correct is that it can be hacked. If one program can do it so can another AND THAT is why we need a hack.

Alanb had set up a PayPal account when we were trying to set up a "raffle" for the release date. Maybe he would be kind enough to let us leverage work that has already been done to get SD his phone?

Just a thought.

Sounds like fun,

I have a site setup here, that you can do donations if you want.

http://www.sdsoft.net/i700.aspx

It's the site I used for the i700.

I also have the latest phonelock version here.

http://www.sdsoft.net/xdaiii/xda.asp

The version for the 6600 should also work on the i730.

I can post totals so everyone knows how much has been donated.

Dave,

Just dropped $5 in your i700 paypal. If I need to drop another $5 in another account for your i730, I will. I owe you at least that much for all the work in making our i700's run like clockwork.

PS That lighning bolt in the lower right corner of my screen would look nice!
