Question WriteShields for the i730

While I'm excited to get the i730, I'm not excited about writing on the screen without a WriteShield on it. I've contacted PPC Techs about making a shield available for the i730, but as usual, they were less than helpful. They ignored my other question about cutting an existing i700 shield to size until the real thing comes available. How do we get a shield available before we jump on this device? Has anyone ever cut one to size? Should you cut from the front side or back side to insure the edges rest completely against the screen. I find their stock shield don't do that very well. Any input would be appreciated.

PPC Techs Response

I got an email from PPC Techs and they suggested cutting from the back side of an existing WriteShield to custom fit one to the i730.

They need measurements from an actual unit of the screen opening in millimeters. I won't be sending mine in for that, so I hope the custom cutting works or there is another shield like for the imate JAM that is the appropriate size.

It's hard to come out with accessories for a device that isn't available yet...

But, look up the screen dimensions of the i730, then compare to what ppctechs already have. Likely they already have a close match.

You could stretch some plastic wrap over the screen......
aluminum foil?.....
tissue paper?

I think the 6315 has a 3.5" LCD while the I730 has a 2.8" screen.

Wow really, maybe I was looking at screen resolution. My tired eyes like the bigger screen. Any references where I can get actual screen dimensions?

FCC filings are posted in here. Also, while the screen is smaller, the resolution is the same (QVGA) This means the same number of pixels in a smaller space which should allow for more detail and crisper images. It should be better than the 3.5 in. screen.

Or have I got this wrong?
