I need to call paypal and find out how they are calculating the fee. Some payments are coming in as .59, others as .61, and none are free (although a payment from a paypal account with a balance is not suposed to have any fee for the recipient). Anyway, I added the .61 to the default payment on the web page button so I don't wind up losing money on the deal...

I asked Convergent to give us a front page link, and to see if the pdaphonehome store wanted to kick in an accesorry to sweeten the deal, and he indicated he thought it might not be legal. A few minutes on google confirmed it. Only registered charities can hold raffles in both Maryland and NY, and then 90% of the proceeds must go to the charity rather then the prize. Otherwise, it is illegal gambling.
Alan and I discussed it and came to the conclusion that a raffle is gambling, and it is illegal in MD and NY (where each of us are located). So, we could have a raffle, but in all likelyhood the site would most likely be gone, and Alan and/or me in jail by the time it ended.... so you'd probably never get the prize. Better to end it now so as not to get your hopes up and have them squashed later.
I've told alan that I'd support a free contest to give away something if you can guess the release date. I'll leave that up to him to put together.

How about bragging rights and a blog style thread on pdaphonehome so the winner can document their first impressions, usage and first week with the phone? Sort of like a temporary contributing editor status.

how about the macmedia people to 'test' their sync charge usb cable. for i730... they may want to donate one for the winner. or some kind of write shield for the expensive toy.... tools
