I'm having the same issue. I think the problem is the S/W version of your phone. The phone has to be at S:i730.2.6V.YE05.15045 for to qualify for the upgrade. After the upgrade you should be at S:i730.2.6V.YH25.15045. You can determine your version by opening the phone application and going to Tools --> Options. Then the security Tab and click the version button. My phone is already at the updated version and yet has WM2003.

You may have the same problem.

This information is here.

I've looked an there are some references to downgrading the radio to make tethering work that seem to reference these two software versions. Not sure if that is the way to go. Seems like a lot of work.

If anybody has any ideas, please advise....

OK, got mine resolved, I think...

Not sure exactly what the issue was, but I moved the cradle to another machine to do the upgrade. The biggest difference between the two machines was the one that was failing was running a 64-bit OS (Windows XP Professional x64.) You might want to try a different machine. Particularly if you are currently using a 64-bit OS. The machine that worked was running WinXP Pro SP2.

Good Luck.
