Unhappy SCH-I730 After WM5 Upgrade & Restore

While working with Verizon, I was instructed to upgrade to WM5. Afterwards, I was then told to download Sprite Backup to restore my data from WM2003.
The phone is now dead. When I turn it on I get the blue screen with MITS logo. Are there any solutions?

Hi Brassy, and welcome to the forums. I am sorry to hear that your phone is unresponsive, but the operating system may be recoverable.

Take a look at item 11 in this thread http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/samsu...6-24-06-a.html for a possible solution to get the phone working again. If that doesn't work, do a search of the i730 forums for "emergency mode".

As you have discovered, you can not restore software or data from WM2003 to WM5 using Sprite. You'll have to reinstall any third party software you had on your i730 before upgrading to WM5.

We're here to help (and be helped), but we do strongly recommend that you read the stickies in red at the top of the i730 forum home page. Those aren't ads...they are compiled threads of advice. Because these phones are several years old now, most issues have been addressed and the solutions to the most common issues are documented in those stickies.

Hope this helps!

Just sync whatever info you have if you can, via Bluetooth to bypass any possible ActiveStink problems (AND use Dashwire as a backup if the regular synching method doesn't work), format/hard reset, install Windows Mobile 5, then you can try to sync what you have there..I don't know if that will work but it's worth a try if you need all your contacts/Outlook info.
