I synced with my PC over a year ago via cable. Somewhere along the way, I misplaced the cradle and cords. I just bought a 760 from a friend and want to get my information over to it, so I thought I could try syncing with the PC via bluetooth to update the information, then connect the 760 to the PC with its USB cord, and transfer all of the info. No such luck.
I have been reading a lot of posts on the subject, and I have seen that people have been successful in getting it to work, but I dont understand anything about stacks, COM ports, services, etc.
My problem seems to be similar to others I have read. I can pair the devices, and look at my 730 from my PC. When I try to sync via bluetooth, whether I initiate from the 730 or PC, it never works. Activesync is on both devices. If I try to sync from the PC, it tells me that the 730 does not support PIM synchronization. If I try to sync from the 730, it says it cant find a partner that supports Activesync, even though I can see my PC in the list of devices.
PC has XP with a bluetooth dongle. The 730 was upgraded to WM5.
Can anyone just list the steps that need to be done, in plain simple instructions? It would really be appreciated, as I am so frustrated that I am ready to just throw the thing at the wall.
I sync regularly using BT. I do recall having to screw around with the COM port assignments. It will be this coming weekend before I have time to go back through the steps I went through to get it to work. A couple of thoughts until then...
Have you downloaded the most current version of ActiveSync for the PC? It should be version 4.5. Do you have an ActiveSync partnership already set up? Does your i730 show up as a possible device when you click File, Mobile Device from ActiveSync on the PC?
Also, I don't have to establish a BT connection first in order to sync. As long as BT is enabled on both devices, I just initiate a sync from the phone and the rest happens automatically
When you say you can "look at my 730 from my PC" what does that mean? Do you mean you can see that a BT connection has been made?
Lastly, tell me the settings under File, Connection Settings in ActiveSync on the PC, so I can compare them to mine.

One additional thing...check your firewall to make sure it isn't preventing the ActiveSync from working. Also check out this thread http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/samsu...on-issues.html. I didn't read all the way through it, but it may have some suggestions.
