Reformating i730, help.

Hey all,
I'm having some issues with my i730 after installing a couple of unsavory games So I want to format and reinstall WM5. But it's been so long since i've doine this that I can't remember how to do it all.

1. I've copied all the files i need to save onto my desktop pc, however I am having problems with Outlook not reading my Contacts. I tried uninstall and reinstalling both Outlook and Active Sync... Active Sync says the Contacts are Sync'ed, but I can't find them in my Outlook.
What do I do?

2. I still have the original WM5 upgrade file from VZ, do I just use that to do a total reformat or what?

Thanks all for the help!

Reinstall? Even if you wanted to do it that way, you can't, the installer from VZW checks your hardware config and if it isn't a WM2003SE i730, it won't do anything.

Do a hard reset, accomplishes the same task.

Hard Reset is easy, quick, and accomplishes what you are talking about. An actually "reinstall" of the rom os rarely needed in winmo, mostly only used for changing to another rom version.

As far as your issues with outlook go - if you need a quick copy of your outlook stuff and cant get it to sync - just copy the pim.vol file from your phone now onto your PC or storage card. Then put it back in it place overwriting the existing one after the reset, it works well. I can't remember where it is specifically (windows folder somewhere, just search it on your phone or in the forum).

Hard reset instructions are in the stickies at the top of the forum as well. I am now 2 phones away from the 730, surprisingly, and so I am a little foggy on the speicifcs, but the process works.

A Hard reset will take you back to nice, clean, fast wm5. It is good to do this once or twice a year anyway as it speeds the device back up. Man, I miss the 730 sometimes.
