i was trying to use small .png images of my family for the image associated with the speed dialer. for some reason, ilauncher would not load these when i pointed it to the directory containing the .png files.
i browsed to the sbsh/ilauncher/images directory and noticed speeddialer16.pnh and speeddialler32.png. i decided to remove these from that directory and move/rename my wife's .png file as replacement's for them.
i then rebooted my 730....at a certain point, the message "ilauncher loading" is displayed and the phone is frozen.
i thought there was a way to boot the 730 into safe mode without using thrid-party software, but i can't find it. does anyone know how to do this?
just in case, to hard reset, ie reformat the phone, do i hold the slider down while pressing the soft reset button?

I personally don't know a way to boot into safe mode without a 3rd party like SPB Pocket Plus, but yea I've had wacked things happen with older version of Pocket Plus when Id delete a tab BUT not delete the icons in it..it got seriously messed up. I don't think it has that problem anymore but I'm not familiar with iLaunch as I prefer SPB Pocket Plus. To do a hard reset you hold down the power slider while you have the stylus in the hole, AND hold down the top left soft key. Keep the left soft key held down as well as the power slider and it should say reformatting. Then you can go to Start-Settings-System-Erase Memory to erase everything if you'd like to start from scratch.
thanks dominick....coming from you-well, that's as good an answer as i can expect. don't like it , but that's what i was sort of expecting.
let's see now... the hard reset sequence is left foot behind right ear, right hand on left ear, left hand pinkie in right ear, cough twice and...
thanks,

Haha. So wait just to make sure, you can't or couldn't get into the main screen after doing that right? If you cant and dont have a safe mode already installed then yea I can't see any other way around that. I've been using SPB Clone to save an image of my phone, then whenever I need to format I have a choice of either using a copy with my PIM info or the other one I saved without any PIM info. Love it. Makes things MUCH easier. Then again if you don't use that many apps then it doesn't really matter in that case. Its such a both to have to set up the phone everytime otherwise.
to keep my phone running smooth, i usually only run the ilauncher, esword, resco file explorer and registry editor, and pocket sudoku. takes all of 10 minutes max to reload. i do keep a copy of the ilauncher.ini file on my pc so i don't have to reconfigure all the speed dialer shortcuts.
i used to try 'em all! got tired of hard resetting my phone!!
thanks for the input and confirmation of suspicions.
