I thought the thing looked pretty hot the first time I saw it, with its VERTICAL ONE HANDED QWERTY SLIDER and all, but anyone know if we would be able to sync our Windows Mobile/Outlook Contacts and Calendar with its Palm OS? Any ideas/input on it? Does anyone know the memory capacity or other detailed specs on it?
I have read that it will sync with outlook. The problem lies in programs, cant use any of them. Not to be closed minded, but if it isn't winmo right now, I'll try it but I'm probably not buying it.

Oh duh that's right, we'd have to re buy everything app wise...then again, it looked so out of the box ready I wonder how many apps one would really need..in other words its NOT Windows Mobile, it seems like they thought of a LOT of stuff to work out of the box. I wonder how that will work.
I read a review where Sprint was loaned or backed for 100 big ones so I think Sprnt is still trying. I agree w/the tablet( carry my 800w all the time but I need another phone too. Not too crazy foe the PRE & the Treo Pro(I want that) is quad so no to Sprnt. Only choice left is the TP which isn't stable OTB. When are they going to make a phone we need???
Isnt it going to Sprint? I cant trust them to be around in a year.
Why do you say that? Because of the economy? I figure if its for sprint one will be able to activate it on Verizon no just like with the Touch Pro or what not?
I am willing to wait winmo out. I honestly don't care about out of the box ready. I know a lot of people do, but I really don't. I like that when I get a new device or a replacement, I can try the built-ins and then just reinstall what I like from my old device. There is still no other platform that can manage this out of a simple lack of different devices. I really hope Nova and the Pre help dig Palm out of the crapper, but just like the iPhone and android, there is no way that this will be a mature OS. Granted, the bells and whistles are there, but what about in 6 months when you want a new bell or whistle. My guess is, there is not going to be a very decent way to add it in. Yes, iPhone has the app store and even jailbreaking, android is open, and the Pre might be open too (linux-based), but they flat out do not have the time in the field that Winmo has. I use apps that range from 8 years to 1 month old. I tend to trust an app that has had over a year to mature. Give them all time and I may reconsider, but for now Winmo wins in power, versatility, and diversity of HW hands down.

Is it that you LIKE to spend hours setting your device up with 3rd party softwares because it didn't come with the support you wanted and needed out of the box, or that you are just USED to doing it? Good points though especially if you want a more specific type of application function that may not be available in the ppc already. I think I would be willing to overlook all of that due to the sophistication of the software/UI, and especially because of the vertical qwerty though. The screen quality looks nice too on it I think.
Pre will be a SPrint device. And it will be in a few days! Since Sprint is CDMA, you could use the Pre on Verizon. Other people have brought Sprint devices over to Verizon. Our outstanding, brilliant former moderator of this forum is one such person. He now uses a Sprint HTC Touch thing on Verizon.
The way the Pre has the same look and lay out as our i730s is great!
It also apparently will be a great device if you want to broadcast video. THey are going to try to make it a device that you can use to upload your live videos to the internet. Interesting possibilities.
Only one speaker/mono, merely adequate sound for speakerphone.

All of this I read about already BUT do we have any more solid info that it is indeed coming out in a few days, perhaps Feb 15th or so? Or is that a confusion with another Palm release, I believe a Treo or something which Bonnie Cha mentioned I think at Cnet?
The Palm Pre and Palm Pro are both delayed at this time. No reason given. With PDA phones its normal for the launch date to be delayed or even for them to stop being sold right after launch due to a glitch being found. It will be interesting to see but i think ill stick with my Sprint Touch Pro. BTW. I have had my IP-830W on with the radio off and its been on without charging for a month and a half...

Hmm I wonder if theres been any more updates. You/anyone hear anything? Do we know which Service provider will carry it? Touch Pro is nice I'll definitely give you that, tempting, but with the newer phones coming out I'm glad I waited. I know right? Lol. One of my backup i730s I let sit there and it also goes forever with no radio on. In the meantime I'm very satisfied with my i730 scaled to 624MHZ, with my Nutshell case, and the 2400mAh Lion battery that lets me go 10-12+ hours each day.
Man, all you have to say is Palm Operating System and I am out of here.
Only thing worse is Symbian or Blackberry, although the latter has iimproved somewhat.
I've never owned a Palm so I wouldn't know..but this is based on Linux..have you seen the videos of it? It runs WAY faster than any Windows OS I've seen, and you can multitask with no problems apparently.
