Samsung SPH-i700 - Upgrade questions?

I have a Samsung SPH-i700. The about screen shows:

Microsoft Pocket PC
Version 3.0.12199 (Build 12199).

I would like to upgrade to Windows Mobile 5.0 (Which I see from this forum is not possible), so how about upgrading to Pocket PC 2003. I purchased a Socket SDIO 802.11G Wireless SD card and can't install the drivers as my OS is to old? The card model is Go Wi-Fi! P300.

I have googled info on upgrading to 5.0 or 2003 but can't find anything useful.

Any help would be appreciated.

If you're talking about upgrading to Windows 2003 Mobile, you may be in for a long wait. I found out the hard way that Verizon no longer supports the i700, so they don't even host the upgrade files anymore. I escalated up to 2nd level management, and they just flat out will not or cannot support it. I was lucky in that when I upgraded to 2003, I guess it was a ROM upgrade, and so when my unit hard reset the other night, it kept the 2003 OS.

I scoured the internet for other mirrors that were still hosting it. One of them is mentioned at least a couple times in these threads, which unfortunately has a corrupt image file. The other mirror I found is dead. I have emailed a lot of people asking for it before I found out I don't need it, so if I get it, I'll definitely send you a copy.

I am about to purchase a WiFi card as well. I think I'm going to splurge the extra $10-15 and get the Wireless G card that does up to 54Mbps. I just got SuperDave's CPU clocking program, which so far rocks. Took me forever and a soft reset to realize you set it from an icon that appears in the lower right corner. D'oh!!

Also getting some sweet apps and maybe a couple games. Had the phone for a while, but took me looking around a lot to realize it's a kick ass little machine. Going to use it properly now!!

I just got an i700 and it took me a couple of weeks to find it but here it is

http://www.myehud.com/i700b/

USE AT YOUR OWN RISK and be sure to follow the directions, especially the part about the ActiveSync version you MUST use. Mine was already upgraded (Could Microshaft possibly make it any harder to determine which version you have?) but I wanted a backup because after all it is a Windows product and sooner or later the OS will probably need to be reinstalled

Anyone has a mirror to the upgrade files? All the mirrors do not work... I will then make a new mirror so the users can always get the files.

Thanks
