Angry SD Card Slot Problems

I need some help here..About a week ago my phone (i700) stopped reading my sd wifi card. It would read regular sd cards but it would not "power up" my wifi card. So I thought maybe the wifi card was bad so I purchased another sd wifi card and it still did not work. To make sure I was not crazy I tried the card in my wifes Dell Axim..it worked like a charm..so I was able to rule out that i got a defective card.. Anyway, now today..the sd slot has stopped reading everything put into the slot. Anyone had this problem before? Any way to fix it? when I take off the battery I see a piece of metalic paper covering the sd slot? Is there anyway to get just the slot and swap a new one with the bad one. Do u think if I took it to verizon they could fix it? Anyone with any ideas please assit. Thanks

update: Went to verizon store today. Talked to one of the techs..he gave me the number to customer care and told me to ask for the Data Services Department (wdts dept.) and that they could replace my phone for $50 dollars. So when I got back to work I called them. The guy on the phone said since my wifes name was on the account he would need to speak to her. Well, she was at work and could not be reached. So this evening I got home and when the kids where asleep I decided to call. I figured that if they needed to speak to my wife she could just hop on the phone and answer any questions that they had. After fumbling through a few menus I finnaly got to speak to a real person. She asked for my cell phone number. I gave it to her. she then asked me what my problem was , so I told her that my SD slot was inop. She said ok. she asked for the last 4 digits of the ssn on the account (which is my wifes but I have it memorized). She asked for my address and then suprised the hell out of me, she said that a replacement phone would be at my house in 2-3 days!! My phone is not under warrenty and I don't have insurance on the phone!!! I made sure to ask if there would be a charge and she said no. I have been a verison customer for a very long time. I am hoping that perhaps they send me a i730 or something. Even though I would miss my camera. Anyway, I have typed enough, I just thougt I would share my experience with the forum.....
