Please forgive my ignorance, this is my first PDA and I'm learning all about them. My i700 says this under system

1996-2003 Microsoft Corporation

So what version of Windows Mobile or Pocket PC do I have exactly? Do I need to upgrade anything?

Okay. I found this in the users manual...it states that it uses Microsoft Pocket PC 2002 Edition software. I'm getting a little confused with all of the names...Windows Mobile CE, Pocket PC...not sure what I need or if I need to upgrade anything.

so I discovered from reading an article on pdagold that showed screen shots that I am running Windows Mobile 2003. Is there something newer out there that I should be upgrading to?

I dont think we can run 2005 can we?

BitViper, I called Verizon and they told me that the i700 CANNOT be updated to WM 5.0

... but can it be upgraded to 2003?

i700 can be upgraded to 2003 from 2002. An easy way to check is to look at your volume controls--2003 has separate ppc and phone sliders. You can't get 2003SE or 2005 on the i700.
