After following the instructions on installing activesync on my computer(not connecting the base to the puter), activesync does not recognize the mobile device. I'm using activesync 3.5 and XP... When you slide the phone into the cradle, press it back until you hear it click into place. That usually corrects the problem.

I, as well have XP and have similar issues.

So you installed AS 3.5 and you put the device in the cradle and nothing happens? As gratchf703 said, make sure it's well seated in the cradle. This may also sound wierd, but try a soft reset on the i700. My new replacement wouldn't connect the first time until I did one, after that it's been completely reliable.
