I believe a forum dedicated to a single piece of equipment tends to slow down as the device ages. Early on, a large number of tricks are discovered, questions are asked, etc. After a year, or so, most of those questions are answered in the forum, and most of the new posts concern new software and updates.
In my opinion, this is natural. It doesn't diminish the value of the forum, for it has become a valuable resource for all users: new and old alike.
There are many of us, who check here, every day, for new posts. Many of us don't offer a lot of input, but value the input by others.

you will get a small batch of new users who will come here and ask everything thats already been asked... it is normal as another poster mentioned.. virtually every question on the i7 has probably been discussed and a lot of SMART folks just search and get their answers.
Yeah more penguin pics, grrrr yeah baby, yeah. I am still here and will still be here helping out so Equus might turn the lights off but I will buy the last round. Oh and closing time aint coming for a long time.
I'm still here most every day, but I don't know if I am an old or a new user! I guess I fit somewhere in between. And, I will be using the i700 for a good while yet, so I will be coming here for the foreseable future, too! I'm still not aware of any better pocketpc phone out there - the new ones have their issues, too, and I am not gonna live on the bleeding edge of technology!
I've been here over a year but in the last 3 months I only occasionally check out the forums. I think it's about time for that upgrade so we can start an XDA III forum.

I am a fairly new member here. Although I haven't been of much help to others with problems so far, I have really appreciated all the help from other more experienced members.
I do know that Verizon is still pushing this unit at my local store. I haven't seen anyone mention a Pocket PC device that exceeds this unit in all categories yet, so it must still have life left.
Yes, this unit is still the "in" thing.....seems after using a few converged devices with Palm and PPC softwares, I find this i700 still stable and does more than the others.....OK so no BT, but that has not stopped me from using it. I always tend to pick this up when I am travelling versus the 4100 or the Treo or Kyocera 7135 or even the Nokia. I have had ZERO lock-ups or freezes with this.....lost any data yet (fingers crossed).....been getting all my SMS and E-Mail on time....surfing the web using TH.....camera app. works perfectly...I don't use WS....no Voice Command, but use Vito Voice Dialer....also have been using FingerClix....so, what iam trying to say is I am keeping this i700 till the parts are not availabe anymore or till Samsung shelves this unit.....jury is still out on whether I should go and plunge into the HP 6315??? so to conclude, this group is not dying...this device is here to stay for a while...VZW knows that as they really have not had that many returns....you can kind of tell by the phone offerings they have now....the only PPC device they still have is this i700....

Well, I'm not going anywhere else -- I figure I'll be using my i700 until I'm eligible for a "new every two" or switch carriers when my contract runs out -- both occur in November 2005.
On topic -- I know why it seems like the group is dying. Blame it on the Pied Piper (or is it PieEyed Piper) -- he's leading everyone away, although I can't even begin to understand why anyone would follow him!!
I happend to glance at the pdaPhoneHome logo in the upper left corner and lo-and-behold this is what I saw:

As some of you already know, the forum has changed over the last couple of months. We engaged the enemy and after fierce battles waged both in chat rooms and via the phone, we slowly turned the tide to PPC2003.
It wasn't easy and we lost some good people but, we made it through. Now, young penguins join our forum asking questions that time has already answered. We have done our jobs.
"Oh yes, I still carry Lola, my I 700" I respond. She wont leave my side for quite a while. I still smile at the memory of smoky nights in Albany. MWFielder and his pet monkey, Shackrat and Tommy engaged in the constant Zeppelin vs. Aerosmith discussion, PPCMD asleep at the bar. There was JPM and Harley in the back room with the pool table and of course, Equus was serving watered down the drinks while JimC doodled dirty drawings on the bathroom walls.
Many more people, many more stories, but in the end it was hard work and determination. Yeah the posts may be down and the commentary may be the same but no worry my friends, "Will be Back!"

Don't forget that Sloppy has that "women's clothing on the weekends" thing going.
Well that's the way that I want it to stay
And I always want it to be that way for my Lola
La-la-la-la Lola
Girls will be boys and boys will be girls
It's a mixed up muddled up shook up world except for Lola
La-la-la-la Lola
This is why I keep coming back and will continue to do so no matter what. I have met, discussed, helped and been helped by the best, the brightest the internet has to offer on any topic ranging from Penguin love to the I700 users of Penguin love. You folks crack me up.
