Question backlight issue resolution?

Anyone found a solution for keeping the backlight on constantly. This function is a MUST for GPS Use! There seems to be a bug in the 2k3 system.

I was out of town for a couple weeks and did not get a chance to post this. I found this Stayon program free on the web. The only thing I needed to do was change the setting so it does not auto power off after a phone call.

This looks great . . . so do you just run Stayon before you start your GPS?

Exactly. I have not used it with 2003 yet. In the past I set the backlight not to go off and not to automaticly shutdown after a call. I just use the power off after x minutes and this program over rides that.

Cool

I had the same problem but figured it out.

Go to START-Settings-System-Backlight

uncheck both items under battery and external power

click "power" found towards the bottom of the screen.

Now go to the advanced tab.

uncheck both items.

Your done. The last screen looks like this:

I don't think the i700 recognizes that it has external power when its hooked up to GPS. At least it didn't in 2002.

I just uncheck all as in the post above and maually turn it off when I want too. Otherwise stays on under bat or ext power, w/GPS and 12v cable, etc...
