Hi. On my old Nokia 6162 I could store a P or W
in the dial string, and it would either pause for n
seconds or wait for a second dialtone.
How the heck do I do anything equivalent on the i700?
Thanks.

"unfortunately we cannot distribute any (any) test versions of
software or hardware equipment to customers. we are a Technical Support Group and do not have the authorization to grant
this request. The upgrade requires a Samsung PST kit to be able to unlock
the eprom of the device and insert the upgrade files. This would have to be
done in a Verizon Wireless Retail store once the 2003 OS is approved and
distributed.
I use a "p" for a pause, like for adding your password to the voicemail speed dial. Just enter it from the soft input keyboard or other data entry means.
You lost me. My email requires me to dial *86 then # for the password prompt then then password. How would I do this?
I also have a work voice mail the requires me to dial in, then a pause is needed and I dial an access number. I can't figure out how to do it. Putting in a P did nothing.
Here is how I set up my speed dial for my voicemail wher 1234 represents my pin code. Doing this, I have to dial nothing at all. *86ppp1234#

I just called Samsung tech support today, before I saw this posting. They said the same thing - p is supposed to give a 2 second pause. But I tried it and it didn't work - it stopped dialing as soon as it got to the p and ignored everything after that. Am I missing something obvious?
As I said above, the p works for me. If you use a w, it waits for you to press the soft send key. They both work. I not sure if it matters if you are using an uppercase or lowercase p, but I have never tried anything but a lowercase p.

Does anyone know how to program a pause into a contacts' # for thier extension? It's easy on a regular cell phone, but it seems to be escaping me on the i700... Anyone else figure this one out?

The voicemail number set in phone options is always mapped to speed dial #1. If you wish to have your voicemail password sent automatically, you'll need to add a pause between dialing the access number (*86 for Verizon) and your password. To access this setting, tap tools -> options from the phone application. After the voicemail access number add two pauses (use a lowercase p for each pause) then put your password after it.
My voicemail autodial (on Verizon) looks like: *86pp12345# where 12345 is my password.
A "," can also be used for a pause. In addition, a "w" works as a hard pause. dialing will stop, but when you hit the OK button, it will continue from that spot.
Alanb,
Thanks for that! Don't know what I'd need a hard pause for, but I'll keep that in mind. Mostly, I just needed a pause for my wifes' work ext. and the voicemail, since I keep my phone in its hard case most of the time and use the voice dial software. Thanks for all the help so far guys!
