Whenever I get outside of a city, I completely lose coverage on my Blackjack.

Last weekend, we drove from Atlanta, GA to Orlande, FL. We were on I-75 almost the entire time. After we got outside of Atlanta, I had no coverage until we got to Orlando, where I had all bars.

My wife was able to surf the web the entire time on her iPhone.

I know that they're both Quad band GSM phones, so why can I get no coverage when outside of a city?

I contacted AT&T, and they "updated" my phone. And "downloaded" stuff to it. Whatever the @(#$* that really means.

I'll see over Thanksgiving if the coverage still sucks. If it does, I've been eyeballing the new Pantech Duo -- any opinions on that phone?

Or -- would upgrading to WM6 worsen or lesson the problems?

The "update" didn't fix squat. I think I'm going to go grab a Pantech Duo today.
