Hi All,
I usually lurk on this site and have been a member for years.
I have owned a Blackjack since December and really couldn't complain about the battery life up until now.
A couple of weeks ago, I received my "free extended battery" from Cingular. From day one, the battery life on this battery was poor. Within 12 hours (overnight with no use), I would be down to one bar on the battery.
I went back and installed my original battery, had it sitting on the charger, charging overnight and for half of the next day. By the next morning the phone was completely dead. This happened to me two days in a row.
I contacted Cingular and they sent me a new phone. I restored everything on this new phone, charged the extended battery in the battery charger, put it in the phone and this morning, I was down to one bar! I put my charged original battery in the phone and have had it charging all day with the USB cable on my desk at work.
Anybody have any ideas why this is happening? I haven't added anything new to the phone and am debating if I should just go back to my original phone and send the replacement back.
No ideas, based on the cycle of events that you described. Perhaps the new battery simply needs to be cycled a few times to reset the battery and the meter. I know that since I have received the extended battery, it has been a blessing many times over and I have had absolutely no problems like what you describe.
I actually had that problem. Luckily for me I was able to remedy it by doing a hard reset. I noticed that it would happy every time I would charge the phone by directly plugging it to a power cord. I found the best way to charge the phone was to take the battery out, and charge it in that little vessel they provided you with. Hopefully this solves something.
did you say free extended battery from cingular? I never got one of those. did you have to ask for it? or did they just send it to you? my phone did come with 2 batteries, but they were just regular batteries.
You know, one thing you may want to try is hard resetting your phone. (press the up key and the power button.)
This means that you are going to loose everything, but try living a couple of days before restoring your phone. If your battery gets better, then you know there is something you tweaked that is the problem.
Well, in mid-December I had the same problem with the Blackjack and the battery. AT&T swapped the phone (this is my third Blackjack) at one of their centers. I'm tempted to get a different phone since I end up losing all and having to restore each time. It's also now not synching with my PC. AT&T customer service was no help.
A. Re-install your sync software, that "should" fix that problem, besides the windows mobile 6.0 comes out on Feb 4th so that should fix some of the problems your having
B. try to drain your battery all the way down ... till it dies, charge it all the up and then it should work. But you and I both know thats not going to work or you have tried it. So Just go to the AT&T store and get a new battery or they can run a test on it.
