Well, the problem may be Xpressmail. I don't use it. I do check my Gmail accounts (two of them anyway) every 15 mins and have never had less than 2 bars of battery left after 24 hours. Also, my phone is also my home phone so I talk on it alot.
I recommend you use MMS to poll your Gmail account.
To set it up just goto your MMS screen and add a new account. First you need to set your gmail account to allow pop access.
The only trick to it is when it asks for your user name, use RECENT:USERNAME@gmail.com. This will alleviate the problem of old emails being removed from your BJ each time you connect to gmail's server. It will save your login information and not require it each time you connect.
Use pop.gmail.com for your incoming and smtp.gmail.com for your send
Instructions:
Goto MMS screen
Add new account
Other (pop3/imap)
Next
Enter your information on this screen and DESELECT Automatic setup
username: recent:user@domain.com
password
domain is not necessary
Next
Just hit Next on the next screen.
Incoming: pop.gmail.com - select SSL connection
Outgoing: smtp.gmail.com - select Outgoing server requires authentication
Next
Choose message age to download - I chose Today's
Choose ENTIRE MESSAGE
Next
I get mine every 15.
Next
Finish
HTH's
