Registry Editor for Blackjack / Install 3rd Party SSL Cert

Anyone know of a registry editor that works on the Blackjack? I've tried using the one found on google searches (regeditSTG.zip, signed by HTC). Howeverit the Blackjack will not let this utility make changes to the registry.

I'm trying to install a 3rd party SSL certificate, if anyone has some experience doing this it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

FYI: I figured it out with some help from another forum.

OTB, the Blackjack will install certificates that are in DER encoded. Initially I was attempting to import a certificate that was in Base-64 encoded. The BlackJack refused to open the Base-64 certificate (stating 'Cannot access certificate'). It turns out that both DER and Base-64 encoded certificates share the same 3-digit file name extension: .CER which can make things confusing.

I had to go into the Windows MMC and add the Certificates Snap-In on my computer to access the 3rd party certificate. I selected the certificate and exported it in DER encoded binary X.509 (.CER) format.

Copied the exported file to the Blackjack (into \My Documents) and opened it from the device. The blackjack recognized this .CER file and prompted me to add it to the Root CA on the device.

Anyhow, hope that helps someone else out there who might have had the same problem as me.

unable to open .CER files

Anyone have any tips for opening .cer files? Followed directions to convert .cer files to DER format and put in My Documents folder on my blackjack, but can't see them unless I search for them and even then cannot open them.

Joemwright,

Are you able to see other files in \My Documents? Have you tried copying the file to another location? Remember you should be opening the certificate on your device and not thru your computer's activesync connection.

Still no luck

Regardless of where I put the files, if they end in .cer they don't show up unless I search for them. Renaming them to .txt or other recognized extension allows them to show up.

The cert must be installed from File Explorer.

Also another issue I had with an Excalibur - I tried to put the .cer file on the Micro SD card and I "installed" with file explorer. It acted as though the install was successful but it was not. When I installed the fille from the device itself it worked fine>!
