Press and hold the "scroll wheel" on the right side of the device and see what pops up. Pretty cool, you can also edit what pops up and add you own stuff. I could never find windows media so now I added a short cut.
Instructions on how to move the email email and attachments to your storage card instead of main memory:
1. Create a 2 folders on your storage card.
\Storage Card\Mail\
\Storage Card\Mail\Attachments\
2. Modify HKEY_Current_User\Software\Microsoft\MAPI. Create 2 new string values. The first should be called PropertyPath and should have a value matching the mail folder you created. The second should be called AttachPath and should have a value matchings the attachments folder you created. (ie. \Storage Card\Mail and \Storage Card\Mail\Attachments)
You'll need to restart your phone and resync. Make sure to delete the files off the old locations in main memory as they don't get deleted automatically.

1. Pair your phone with you computer so that is shows on your computer as a Network Access Point. Mine displays as SHG-i607 with a Network Type of 100mb ethernet.
2. On phone, select Start->Applications->FIle Explorer
3. On the phone, go to \Windows directory
4. Run Internet Sharing
5. Select PC Connection: Bluetooth PAN
6. Select Network Connection: Media Net
7. Click Connect
8. On PC, click connect on Blackjack bluetooth phone networking icon
Hello,
I hope this is the correct forum to post this question.
I am new to smartphone and have been thinking of upgrading to the BlackJack. I am in the shipping bussiness and I would like to keep some simple inventory reports in excel and just need to be able to check my email and send emails. So I think the BlackJack would be perfect for my needs and has the price that suits me. My question would be, does anyone know if efax messenger can be installed and used with the BlackJack? Thank you for any help.
Cab (.cab) files are always run from the device so you will need to copy them to your device storage or memory card either though Active Sync or with a card reader.
EXE files should be run from the PC that is running Actiive Sync with your device.

Be careful storing things on cards. We have found in the i730 forum that if your device goes to sleep and you have a program that needs to read or write to the card it my lockup because the card is not accessible while in a sleep state. An example of a program would be checking e-mail in the background.
This my not be an issue for the Black Jack.

A couple of things here. One: A quicker way to do this is to use the Resco file explorer and set it to Show Hidden Files. Under Windows in the phone look for a file called AdminSettings.exe. Make a shortcut to it and put it in your Start Menu. This will save you from dialing the numbers above everytime you want to change it.
Second: I found that if you live in good 3G coverage, just the opposite will save your battery life as well. If you put it on HSDPA mode only (no GSM), it seems to have the same effect that the GSM Only mode does on the battery. I live in good coverage and only have to charge every couple of days now with moderate usage. If you move out of a 3G area then you simply change it back using your AdminSettings.exe shortcut. Takes about 10 seconds.
Hope you find this useful.

Here is a little tip for those that like to stay in touch. I found this on another BJ site and a different smartphone site. The company mail2web.com offers free accounts and they are exchange accounts. You can do what I do is register for the account and then forward your mail from your home computer (or you can have their aggregator grab it for you but only once an hour) and then you can have true push mail to your device. I leave my home computer on all the time with outlook syncing constantly with the POP servers for my ISP and when e-mail comes in it is forwarded (set up forwarding rule in outlook to your mail2web account) and then the e-mail is pushed to your phone. This is a true push as they have supported exchange servers. It will sync your contacts, task, e-mail, and address books. Looks like a makeshift alternative to purchasing and setting up an exchange server on the hoome system, yet stil remaining connected and in touch when out and not burning through the battery with unnecessary timed checks or getting things late through manual checks.
Hope this may help seomone, and any other thoughts or suggestions are welcomed. SO far loving this device, but still missing some of the features of a full PPC but gettign the bugs and workarounds down.

Within each profile there is the option to adjust the volume of the ringer that the profile uses. This means that all could be set to the same level or increased further or lessened from what the default settings are for that ringer. Goto start/settings/profile select the profile to change and then hit the right soft key (menu key) and select edit and this will give lots of options to customize the profile.

Okay all, I have found a sort of work around for those that don't want to double up on the storage of a ring tone on both the card and the phone. I will tell you that it is a little long winded, but for those that never remove their cards (like me except tp sync over new songs through a card reader) it will work. I have tried it on both mine and the wife's BJs and it does work.
This trick is only for those that don't mind editing the registry. Open up your favorite reg editor (I prefer Resco) on the phone and then go to the following key:
\HKCU\ControlPanel\Sounds
and then scroll to the bottomm and edit the data string that is labeled Ringtones. All you then have to do is manually add the links to where the ringer/song is stored (i.e. \Storage Card\Ringers\Old Telephone.wmv). Manually add the new link for each ringtone (this can get quite tedious but it will save on duplicating storage of ringers and save on storage memory on the main device) then power off and back on the phone and now you will be able to select your new ringer for the main ring tone and/or for any individual within your contact list (I have tried and verified each).
I also tried receiving calls without the card in and the ringer defaults back to the default ringer (so yes it does ring and you don't miss a call,). I then placed the card back into the phone and retried the call and the ringer went back to the newly defined ringtone for my individual caller and came through without a hitch.
Sorry that this is longwinded, but so far this is the only work around that I have been able to find. To those that change their ring tones constantly and have seperate tomes for 100's of contacts, this may not be a good workaround, but for those such as me that really only have personalized ring tones for a handful of people (and I rarely change with whom they are associated or give out new ringers) this is a definitely a memory saver (I have gained about 5-10 percent of free memory).
As with all the disclaimer that messing with the registery can render your phone inoperable and I take no resposibility for what you may do. This is a just a friendly and helpful tip.
(I also posted this in the thread relating to setting MP3s on the storage card as ringers, but thought it might be helpful in the FAQ's)

This is a quicker and alternative method to storing ringtones on the Storage Card. I found this solution on another forum and it has worked for me:
Quote:
To use MP3/WAV/MID files as ringtones AND have them on your memory card is to put the files in your “Storage Card/My Documents/” folder. If it’s not there create it. Just drop files into this directory and they will appear in the Ringtones options list. Good Luck! ~Judge~ ***
