I want to get a PDA Phone and am planning on getting something cheap. A friend is selling a Samsung i601 blackjack i believe its called. Hes had it for some time and recently picked up an iPhone. He offered the phone to me for $120 which seems ok. The problem is he has not used the phone for around 4 months and claims hes forgotten the keypad code. He told me I can still receive calls but since he had some keypad lock, I cant do anything unless he remembers the code or it gets removed.

Is there a hard reset function he can perform to reset the code? The "reset code" options is greyed out which is strange. Also he has not backed up his content does a hard reset remove all the data on the phone?
