Help with Sprint Ace

Hi Guys,

I am having some major issues with my sprint ace, mostly relating to the fact that the device is locked which prevents me from using a lot of registry tweaks and even some essential software.

Do you know where people are discussing this device? There does not seem to be a dedicated forum here.

Thx

I'm having the same issues. It seems that you need to call Sprint or Samsung and get the "unlock codes". I have an email into Samsung. If they reply to me I will let you know. Can anyone else help?

On the specs, it says that it can download screensavers and ringtones. Is this using the normal vision portal used on non-pda phones?

I received an email reply back from Samsung. It basically said that I would need to go through Sprint to Unlock my device. So, I am off to deal with Sprint Tech.........

Let me know how it works out.

I can imagine that calling Sprint CS and asking them to unlock your GSM phone will be interesting

Does anyone out there know how to make the backlight turn off when the Ace is plugged into a wall charger? Mine goes dim, but does not go black. I think I have my settings correct because it does go black when it is not plugged in. Thanks.

I just bought an Ace last week. Overall, it's a fantastic phone, but there are a couple minor annoyances that I'd like to clear up. I am trying to figure out if there is a way to use the Ace as a modem without paying Sprint's ridiculous monthly fee for Phone as Modem service (I already pay for unlimited data). Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

how many ACE users are on here? It would be nice to have a dedicated forum to discuss this thing since it seems to be confusing a lot of us (I'm one of them).

Not the "smartest" smartphone ever?

While this phone has a lot of nice features there are many things that are missing (e.g., will not play youTube videos, will not run Opera Mini, lacking ability to change IE homepage, googleMaps locate me feature is not supported, etc.). General impressions are that this phone is great for business users, but if you like to tinker, it seems like the Operating System has been crippled by Sprint, and there is not yet a strong user community driving fixes. Ultimately, not too "smart" of a smartphone.

Here you go...

Hi, I don't know if everyone has already discovered this, so I thought I would post. This file will unlock your Ace and allow you to install anything like any other windows device. Enjoy!
