Based on the large number of emails that I have received, I wanted to let you all you know what’s happening with Directory Assistant (DA). I have some exciting things in the works, and will be re-launching an improved version of the application very soon. As part of that process, several users have been Beta testing the new version of DA. Unfortunately, the directory data provider made some significant changes recently without any advanced warning. I’m working on a fix for that, along with the aforementioned changes, and will make them available to you in the very near future. Thank you for your patience and continued support. Been trying frantically to use DA on my new 755 and my wife's 650. Thought I had died and gone to hell, since it wasn't working on either. So glad I found your post about the status. I can now relax, knowing DA will be back at some point. Thanks so much for such an indispensible app. Looking forward to its return.

If you need a beta tester for Palm-branded Treo 680 on ATT/Cingular, let me know.

Rick, I support several models of Treo devices: 650, 700P, and 755P on Sprint. I would be very happy to beta test the software for you, as we use this very often and several of my users are chomping at the bit for the fix. Let me know.

Yes... this little app is like Palm Crack. It's been a real bummer to not have it. I actually had to call Sprint 411 the other day.

Just registered on this site to find out about DA. I've used this program for a little while now and absolutely love it, I also put it on my wife's 680 and she loves it (I love that I don't have to pay $1.50 everytime she calls 411). I can't wait for the update and want to give many thanks to you Rick!! Currently unemployed, but when I have a job will definitely be sending you a donation!

I, too, am an existing customer. I first found DA for my 650 and immediately sent in a donation. It's one of the most-used apps on my 700p. I'm looking forward to the result of all your hard work, too.

Great product. I am a relatively new 700P owner and I discovered this app just before it went out of service. Do you have an estimate of when the revamped product will be available? I loved the product and would be happy to donate once it is available.

Thanks from me too, for the update. I've really been missing this app--it's one of the most useful ones on my 700p. I'm probably going to be switching to Windows Mobile when the Treo 800w comes to Sprint (if it lives up to the rumors at all), and DA is one of the things I'll miss most about Palm OS. I'm actually considering putting StyleTap on the new device just for DA. Glad to hear that you're working on a fix.

Idiots at Time Warner deleted it again and I can no longer login to re-create it, and what little time I've spent trying to get someone on the phone at RR did not turn up anyone who seemed to understand what a web site was. Soon it will not matter, I probably wouldn't even bother to put it back up except so many people have the link that I'd like to redirect to, which is:
