Question Why am I getting this message?!? Two questions...

I downloaded a three day free trail of a game from magmic.com to my desktop and then transferred it via the desktop manager. Ever since then, twice an hour, every hour I have been receiving this message.....

"This message is used to carry data between the BlackBerry Handheld and an associated server. Please do not delete, move or respond to this message - it will be processed by the server.

Are you using the Desktop Redirector service? You know, the one where your PC has to always be on to receive emails, etc?

I don't remember if you stated what device you have. 7250? Something else?

That desktop redirector service formats messages to your BB by emailing them through your PC as an email attachment called "etp.dat". It would appear that the game you downloaded has created a badly formatted message. I'm trying to see if I can find a way to clear that message for you.

I may need to see about "reinitializing" that service. That may be something your cellular service provider would have to do.

Does the game do *anything* network related, like score submissions, or anything like that?

I am. Supposedly our IT is looking into it. I will reload the desktop as soon as they give me the go ahead. I don't believe it was related to the game. Probably an easy fix since it looks like a lot of other people have it too. Thanks for your help. I'll let you know when I get it resolved.

Go in to your control panel on your computer, and find the blackberry Desktop manager. Click on the remove/Change option. You want to modify the installation and make sure you choose the typical installation and the blackberry Internet version, not enterprise or redirector. I know the options sound cool under these other options, but they are not for the normal consumer using the blackberry internet service. That should make it go away.
