This may be old news for some of you, but if you're like me and came to the Blackberry upon the arrival of the 7750, this is GOOD news...
This afternoon I purchased and installed "Webmessenger," a program designed to provide Instant Message functionality to the Blackberry over a variety of IM services. You can find their site HERE.
For this to work, you need both BES and MDS service. I use "eoutlook," a hosted BES/MDS service, but I assume this will also work with "Mailstreet" and other services like it.
The purchase and installation is not very intuitive, and in fact I'm shocked that it worked on the first try. I'm still getting used to it - but it does what it says it will do, and brings IM to the Blackberry. There is about a 2 minute start-up sequence which is a little annoying, but once you're up and chatting the service is responsive enough to be a lot of fun and/or useful.
It costs $49 a year, and they offer a one month trial. It was probably dumb of me to buy it right away, but I did. I'll get use out of it, however, as my wife is on AOL IM at her job and yabbers with me all day long in cyberspace.
Again, I'm sure many of you already know about this program, but at least I can verify it works on the 7750 - which is something I hadn't heard before.
Cheers!
Sifu Z.

Hey, EvilH!
I really like the 7750. It's funny - I now have three PDA phones: the 7750, the Treo 600 and the G1000. I was hoping that I'd be able to pare the group down a bit, but each does things well that the others don't.
I have to confess that the Treo is still my pick for the best all-around converged device. However, the 7750 has an incredible keyboard, pretty good screen and that awesome way of handling email that is Blackberry's claim to fame. It also has a nice form factor. I tend to carry the 7750 around with me during the week when I need fast email response and take the Treo with me at night and on weekends when I can enjoy it's many features. In fact, I just downloaded the new Clinton book onto the Treo - and it's almost 1000 pages! Ebooks are just another advantage of the T-600.
The G1000 has been spending a lot of time in it's charger. It has the best screen and terrific audio versatility - but right now I'm having too much fun playing with the 7750 and the Treo. Not to shortchange the G - it also has a better camera.
Hope you've been doing well -
Larry Z. (Sifu Z.)

I moved to Verizon a few months ago and am hoping that they get the Treo as advertised. That blackberry is looking tempting but I know I can't read ebooks on it. I have hundreds and I'd sure miss them.

Well, don't believe their comercials because their coverage may have increase but the voice quality has not. Still the same lousy signal indoors and only about half that calls come through clearly, without the choppy, broken up conversation. I now am trying the T6 on T-Mo and even though they don't have as much coverage, I get a superior signal and call quality. Not to mention bargain rates on the service.

Sifu - and all others who've tried both:
If you could get one converged pda with either Blackberry features on the Treo (mainly the great e-mail app and push technology) OR alternatively Treo features (apps, games, etc.) on the Blackberry - given both units current sizes, screens, form factors, etc, which would you take?
How truly easy do you find typing on either unit? I'm guessing that you one finger or thumb the typing. Would a fair assessment be that either is good enough for a short quickie message, but not much else? Or is one considerably better than the other?
I want to use instant messaging on my blackberry 6750, but I am confused with all the services available BES/MDA.. I went to the EOUTLOOK site and that confuses me even more....I already get my outlook email from my job..they don't have a BES but I am able to get it through my web outlook and the blackberry web client..what kind of service will I need from Eoutlook or Mailstreet and if there anything else cheaper out there.
i buy this from my fren at US...it had name blackberry 7750 cdma by verizon...but i dont know how to use it in indonesia...cos here there is no verizon network...anybody know how to enter nam program???
