Blackberry and Microsoft Office Documents

How well is the viewing of MS Office attachments on the Blackberry... specifically I'd be using the Blackberry 7230 which is color. Do you need anything extra, or is it good out of the box. I assume you can't do any editing, correct?

You must have a properly configured BES server to view attachments.

The Web client or desktop redirection do not support it.

Apparently there are a few 3rd party providers popping up that provide BES access to Blackberry users by redirecting your website's mail MX entry to their server.

I found this advertising quite misleading that it could open attachments, only to find out it requires a BES connection.

A few years ago I looked at a third party site that translated your documents (attachments) into clear text and send them back to you. I didn't like this model, since your BB traffic is no longer within your own network (since you send it "out" to be translated), but it was an option. BES 3.6 is the best option, but not always cost justifiable.

I'll see if I can dig up the name of that service.
