Pull Only Email

I have a friend who is considering a Blackberry, but he does not like the concept of push email. Can he use a dummy email account for his "official" Blackberry push email, and then just use an email client program to access his POP3 email via pulling it to the Blackberry? Is that client a standard Blackberry program or a third party app?

Just to make his problem clear, I'll re-iterate, he does not want email to show up on his Blackberry unless he asks to pull it.

Thanks in advance,

-barry

then i dont think he should get a blackberry. there is no way that i can think of to set this up. My understanding is that blackberrys only support BES or BIS push and a 10 minute pull from webmail sites (like exchange owa, hotmail, etc).

Thanks. I guess we'll have to look for a different brand of smartphone.

Barry,

Any other smartphone will be able to do this. If it supports POP or IMAP, and your friend's email servers are configured with these protocols (or even if it's exchange OWA) you can set it for a pull only (manual sync).

Try a free program called LogicMail - it's a pull only email client that works with both POP and IMAP email servers.
