Hello all. I recently moved to the BlackBerry world after a very long relationship with WindowsMobile and previously to that Palm OS. I have been using PDA's since the early Palm Vx and moved have been using both Palm OS and WindowsMobile Smartphones together since early 2000.
What I am trying to do is obviously drive interest and yes user feedback and interest. So I am looking for feedback on what I can do to help enhance the BlackBerry forums section for you. I didn't make this a poll so I could get more free flowing thoughts. So don't be shy step right up.
Well, I've joined the BB world as well. We have a similar history except I actually had a Palm 3X before my Palm Vx.
For the last couple of years, I've been using the basic organizer built-in apps more than anything else on my Pocket PC (Treo 700wx) and now having corporate mail 24X7 has become an imperative. The use of directors (Wireless Sync, Business Connect, etc.) worked but I still didn't have ready access to needed company web sites and instant messaging. VPNs were never stable. Therefore, it became apparent that I needed a Blackberry which would provide seamless access and 100% mobility. It is also nice to have company support for my handheld (first time ever).
They issued me a 8830 and will not longer pay any part of the use of any other handheld. That means that I either have to foot the bill myself or let it go. I don't want to carry around 2 devices so I need a forum to help me fully convert to BB. I used my Pocket PC in ways that made my life easier and I want to have these capabilities in my BB.
Rather than having to try/buy everything out there, I'd like to contribute to and benefit by the collective experiences of others going through this transition. I think there are others in my same situation.
Perfect. Me too. Palm, PPC now BB. I want (I want, I want, I want). It seems to be a nice simple reliable platform, more like Palm, in that respect. It seems harder to deal with, compared to PPC, much like Palm in that way also. PPC was just so manageable, if unreliable and breakable.
My 'want' list includes a nice calculator, some time-consuming games, better browser, better weather program, don't know what else.
I have ported my Splashdata Splashid into BB ($10 upgrade) and am relatively happy with it. I've heard that eWallet is also working on a BB version.
