eCell Brings Spreadsheet Power to the Blackberry

DynoPlex, Inc. has announced that it will provide a complete suite of business productivity application for the extremely popular BlackBerry wireless platform from Research In Motion (RIM). Business productivity applications developed by DynoPlex through the BlackBerry ISV Alliance Program will provide file editing capabilities, new documents creation and full compatibility with all major MS Office applications.

DynoPlex's suite of business productivity applications marks an important development for BlackBerry users by advancing them from passive viewing to active editing of files and creation of new mobile documents. "We interviewed a lot of BlackBerry users and they almost unanimously put ability to edit, create and manage documents on their BlackBerry handhelds on top of their wish list" said Sergey Fradkov, co-founder of DynoPlex.

DynoPlex will make its suite of mobile office applications available for popular BlackBerry 857/957/5810/5820/6710/6720/6750/6510 handhelds.

The first of these applications, eCell - an Excel compatible spreadsheet program, is now available. You can read the full press release and download a trial at Dynoplex. The biggest problem I see with this is the price... $74.95. That is a lot for pdaPhone software. I would think that they would be coming in lower to try and win an early customer base.

Well, I think the software provides unique values to the BB users. And the price is equal to 1-2 months of service and is not considered too high for prople who need it. I agree, this is not cheap, but then again - if you do not need it - you would not have bought it even for $20.
