Once you select the Process Credit Card option from the main menu, you will immediately come to this screen. You may either manually enter the information, or swipe the card. If you are going to swipe the card, then no manual input is required.
Upon swiping the credit card, you will come next to the screen to input the transaction amount. Again, this is presented with big buttons making it easy to input without a stylus.
I will enter "1.00" for this transaction which requires two taps... the "1" and then the "00". Then I press the Accept key to move on.
On the next screen you will see all the information that was swiped... name, card number, expiration, and the amount. For the screens in this review, I have overwritten the details since the information wouldn't be good to plaster across the internet.

If the card doesn't work, you can input the information manually. Then hit Accept.
Now you have a choice of turning the screen around and having the customer sign it, OR, you can tap the text below the signature block and it will rotate the screen for them... which is what I usually do.
If you rotate the screen, it strips everything else off that they may hit by accident... in particular the "Charge" button that sends the transaction to be processed.
Since they can hold the
PDAPhone in their hand, it is very easy for them to sign it with a stylus... or you can obtain a larger pen with a stylus tip to hand them which makes it even easier. Then they will hand the
PDAPhone back to you after signing and you can hit the OK button which is already oriented in the direction you are facing. No rotating of the device here which makes it very ergonomic.
Finally you have all the information you need to process the transaction and simply hit Charge to process it.
If there isn't an active data connection, Pocket Verifier will initiate it for you. You setup during the initial login which connection it should use. Note that if you pick the wrong one during initial setup, it is rather difficult to change it so make sure you know which one is the right one. Once its setup, this never has to be changed again.
If a data connection were already present, this next screen would be what you'd see when you hit Charge.
Assuming the transaction works, you'll get a dialog box indicating and you hit OK.
Finally you have everything complete with your transaction reference number and approval. This is very key when comparing to offline mobile terminals because you get the charge done immediately... not later. I can't tell you how many times I had problems after I got back to the office with a credit card that did'nt go through. Unfortunately, then I'd have to try and hunt them down to get my money, and they already have the merchandise. With Pocket Merchant, that can never happen. You process the transaction on the spot before they leave with the merchandise. On this screen, you hit the print button to issue a receipt for the customer with all the information filled in. I usually print a second one and staple it to my order paperwork, but that is not really necessary since the information is stored on the MerchantAnywhere system.
If you decide that the transaction is in error, no problem... just hit the Void button.
Then confirm that it is to be voided. If it is done immediately, then it will never show up on their records.
