Starting Pocket Verifier

The heart of the MerchantAnywhere system is their software - Pocket Verifier. It is available for nearly every PDAPhone platform available including Windows Mobile (Smartphone and Professional / Pocket PC), Palm, Symbian, and Blackberry. I have used it on Windows Mobile and Palm and both work very well, although I prefer the larger Windows Mobile touch screen. For this review, I used the AT&T Tilt (HTC Kaiser) and the bluetooth based Pocket Spectrum.

Installation and setup is relatively easy. You install the program the same as you would any other program on your device. Then, on Windows Mobile you must pair the printer with the device and setup a COM port. There are detailed instructions on the MechantAnywhere website for many different devices. After installation, you start the program from your PDAPhone program menu and you will first receive a splash page identifying the program.

Next you will be prompted for your login information. The program will not start without proper login information. One this information is entered, you hit Log In. The program will stay logged in until you exit, so this should only need to be done once for the day.

Finally, you come to the main Pocket Verifier menu. You have four choices - Process Credit Card, Process E-Check, Transaction Manager, and Setup. We will first look at the Process Credit Card option. Notice that most functions have big buttons so that you don't need a stylus to fill them in for most transactions.
