Question Slick VS. Palringo. Mobile IM Programs for Mogul.

For your IM needs on the Mogul, what are people using. I have found that the free apps like Slick Lonely Cat Games - Slick and Palringo Palringo Vocal IM are way better on the Mogul than agilemessenger but I am looking for feedback. I am using both Slick and Palringo to determin which is best for my usage as well as battery life for the Mogul. I noticed that Palringo has a setting that focuses on battery conservation and Slick doesn't but could it be that Slick is already battery friendly?

I like the way palringo looks, but I cant deal with the all too frequent disconnects from AIM. I tried slick, and i can say I havent had a problem with it, and its free. I wish that someone could hack the OZ IM app to run on the mogul, as i would muh prefer a text based IM client since I have unlimited text. Using these data based IM services just rapes my battery, but hey, what can we do about it

I really like agile messenger but parlingo is growing on me , AIM+ just has an old outdated feel to me.

I am really falling for Slick and I find myself hardly ever using parlingo now...

I hadn't tried Slick until about 20 minutes ago. Pretty impressed with it so far. I'm unable to get the "vibration" method of alerting to work. I have it checked off under the programs "configuration", but I still only get an audio alert. Anybody have any luck with it?

well i am using mundu, which I paid for .. 11 bucks. aside from that. I usually will turn it on, and see who is on aim. ill send them a message and then log off mundu, or whatever im service. I already have aim set up to fwd responses to my cell phone, so after that i will just chat via my text messages to save the battery. with yahoo you can tell the person to text u from the yahoo im.

No matter what I have done the vibration alert doesn't work. Hey, it's free....

That's SO frustrating. I wonder if it's something specific to the 6800? My Mundu IM also doesn't vibrate when I receive an IM, even tho the check-box is marked. However, a friend of mind who also uses Mundu but on a 6700 has no problem getting his to vibrate.

Are both of these pure client applications or do they route your IM's through a service they run. I hate to have my IM traffic routed through more parties than the provider.

I am definitely all about Palringo - It works very well, never disconnects me, and is easy to use. I wish it had more IM sounds integrated with it. Other than that, you could not ask for more than a free program that works flawlessly. I have tried IM+, Mundu, AIM 2.0, and Slick - and Palringo, by far, is the best one I've used.

Grrrr. I wish Palringo wouldnt add an icon to this system tray. Can that be hidden? Also, in a 1x data area, will just being logged into a im client prevent me from getting my calls?

Slick for me now all the way. NO disconnects, nice interface(you need to make the font larger, if you use the default, it looks like an old DOS program), you can send files, and it even shows you when the other person is typing!! Not as pretty as palringo, but functionality murders palringo, plus it actually keeps the conversation if u close it out, unlike palringo, which erases it anytime you navigate away from your current converstaion. Someone please get friggin OZ working!!!
