XV6800, XV6700 AND an XV6600, Plantronics Voyager 855 Stereo BT Headset, Jabra JX-10 Release 2, Aliph Jawbone, Motorola H700, Motorola H850, Jabra BT800, Sony HBH-660, 2 GB SD
it's a usb headphone jack. Use the ear buds that came w/ your 6800.
I'm curious though, what ROM did they release w/ the Verizon phone?

My first impressions are that the device doesn't have a headphone jack, unless I'm retarded.
Compared to my now retired 6700, the 6800 feels better in my hands, lighter and thiner.
I would have preferred the scroll wheel on the right side of the device since I tend to pick it up with my left hand.
So without a headphone jack, how can I listen to music? Seems pointless to play music through the devices speakers which are sub-par.
I have a bluetooth stereo headset I use while Mountain Biking/Cutting Grass/etc.
It is a Plantronics Voyager 855.

Maybe I missed something last night, but I don't recall seeing any earbuds in the box. I remember seeing a 2-legged dongle with a 2.5mm jack on one wire and a USB port on the other, but no earbuds.
wow, let me think about that while I listen to music w/ my earbuds...

ROM Version: 2.09.605.8
ROM Date: 08.03.07
Radio Version: 1.30.60
No earbuds?? The freakin' earbuds that Sprint threw are like less than $1 to manufacture. VzW once again nickel and dimes the customer. Plus Sprint threw in a half a gig memory card (which I transfered to a digital photo frame).
Plus I can't believe that VzW took all this time and the ROM they released is 2.09??? I sure hope that ROM number isn't a universal HTC 6800 ROM number, if so, you folks are a version behind and will be plagued with the same issues that the Sprint 2.09 ROM had. OMG... if that ROM date is accurate, then yea, you folks might have the BT and KB problems

Dude! Thanks for cheering us up! The reason Verizon took so long to release this phone is because they all share ONE brain, and the guy who had possession of it forgot he had it and took it on vacation with him! He accidently left it in the hotel and it got vacuumed up with the other dust particles on the floor.
It has taken this long to get a replacement brain! So yeah, they're behind!
And you're shocked... why?

For once, being w/ sprint, I feel this odd and unfamiliar sensation called pitty for others....

hahaha...whatever. i wasn't about to wait another year for a phone. i'll deal with the bugs. plus, most of the bugs come from me loading too much crap on it!

Duuude.... I'm shocked because of the following:
Phone was "suppose" to be released in August. Failed testing.
Phone was "suppose" to be released in October. Failed testing.
Phone is FINALLY released in December... and it's got a ROM dated from August??!!! Ok... WTF were they testing all this time? Get It Now?
And someone just confirmed in one of the other threads that the VzW 6800 DOES indeed have the keyboard/Windows Live problem... which means VzW is still operating on a defective ROM that is a version behind... after all these months of "testing"??!!
Right now I feel like a genuis, or that I stayed at a Holiday Inn last night, because I was VzW customer back in the spring patiently waiting for the 6800 "on the network". Kept hearing "any day now". I thought screw VzW and their high prices, stall tactics, whatever... jumped ship and have never looked back. After seeing this debacle unfold, I'm willing to bet VzW won't even unlock the GPS in order to squeeze more money out of their customers.
You're a good man Betaman... I feel for you... heck, I'd even chip in to buy you a new phone on the "other" network
I got the phone yesterday. First impressions on the pro side are:
1. Smaller even with the extended batterry (Nice).
2. More RAM/ROM on the phone.
3. Compatible with higher capacity memory cards.
4. CommManager closes without an error.
5. 6700 chargers are compatible with the 6800.
6. Verizon had a stock of 6800 accessories when the phone was released which wasn't available when the 6700 was released.
Cons are:
1. Upgrade didn't fix the inability of accessing java based web pages.
2. No improvement in the stability of the OS.
3. Exit option on the CommManager still doesn't shut down the program.
4. Not even close to meeting the advertised battery life. To make sure the unit is useful all day must charge it over night every night.
5. There aren't any nice cases that will accommodate the extended battery.
6. Doesn't come with a cradle to sit in when connected to the pc.
7. No headsets provided for hands free access by either hardwire or bluetooth; must be purchased separately.
8. Even though I shut off the voice dialer so I can listen to audio things such as music, gps commands, etc., audio will shut down in the bluetooth after about 30 secs. Have to install a 3rd party software to get it to work.
Neutral throughts - Even though there are 8 cons most are fixable with a 3rd party solution which makes the unit an adequate source of communication needs. It's just aggravating that Verizon makes it so that the average user must resort to such workarounds to have a device that will meet their needs.
Overall impression - With a bit of modification this PPC is nice and gives me the combination of calendar, phone, and internet in one device. There is more of a variety of programs to use on a PPC then on a standard phone which makes it more capable of meeting my needs. The only thing that makes it worth the upgrade from the 6700 is the increase in memory and electronic storage. If not for those I would be returning the unit and still continue to use my XV6700.
As an aside, regarding your inquiry about EVDO Rev A, I can't tell what version I have. There's nothing on the phone to show what version is installed even with EV showing as the network connection. Tell me where I can find it and I'll tell you.
