I noticed someone purchased this phone for 209.00. I am currently in a family plan with a Moto Q. I would like to upgrade to this phone but will I be able to keep the 100.00 advanced device credit without switching to a separate plan? Verizon says I will only get 50.00 if I dont switch. Can I do this online and make it work? Thanks for all of the info this is a great site.

You can go to their website and wait a couple of minute until you are pinged for a chat with an online associate. Ask your questions like I did before upgrading to this device. It was helpful and didn't cost a thing to ask my questions.

Thanks for the help. Are the hacks everyones using CAB files or do they require registry editor? I've done some registry mods for my Q but really like the self install CAB files. The call volume will be a must as would the battery life hack.

I have a family plan. Just used my ne2 to upgrade without changing my plan. I got the advanced device credit. I just did it online and offered the credit. You can do a dry run without obligation. Choose the phone and it will offer you options, e.g. insurance, text plans and a data plan. If you choose the unlimited, it gives you the Advanced Device Credit. It doesn't require any monkeying with your plan.

I tried a dry run but it never gave me a credit. It still said 399.00. I cant get the ne2 until 30 March 08. If I can get the phone for 250.00 with the mail in for 50.00 I would buy it tomorrow. In other words 250.00 out the door all rebates paid.

I wanna upgrade to this phone too now that I got to finally play with one at the VZW store. But my NE2 doesn't kick in till July. Hopefully by then there will be a ROM update or 2 that someone on another said will update EVDO and GPS.

Or maybe there will be a new Rev A Moto Q with wifi and maybe a touchscreen??? Then it would be a tough call.

I like this phone....
No real issues or problems that can't be resolved in one way or another...
I just wish the MSVoice command would work properly.

The one for the volume issue is a file that has to be copied to the Windows folder on the phone.

The battery life issue is a registry hack, as well as a few phone tweaks.

Voice Command works great for me! Only problem is when she speaks in my ear letting me know who is calling, the volume is pretty low. Other than that, it works GREAT!

Thank you, geebox. I remember that feature from a number of years ago. I did the setup that made an incoming message text my cell phone. Couldn't read the email, just knew that one had come in. I thought that was a big deal! I often ran out of alloted notifications halfway through the month, however.

Okay, I baught it. I got screwed on the deal but I got tired of waiting. I turned off the keypad tone and I have wireless sync up and running. All my contacts and email came in so I'm happy so far. Anyone know what remote desktop can do from this phone? I saw someone uses it but wasn't quite sure whatthey controlled from it. ANy programs worth trying would be appreciated.. I use wireless sync from my home computer to push my email and contacts to the phone.

Okay dudes, I pulled the trigger on this handset. I have the hacks.zip from post #104 which should take care of most of the recognized issues AFAICT. I guess I'm curious about which of my WM5 apps will work with this handset. i-Guidance 3.1? The SPB stuff, Pocket Plus, Calendar, etc.

What else am I missing?

Thanks,

Bob Duckworth

Anyone know of a good alarm program for this handset? I tried the one from the WM6 site called schegy?? It didn't uninstall completely and causes errors afterwards. I had to reset the storage twice. The oem alarm has no frills ring tones.

Verizon Slave,

Try phonealarm. I've noticed that others have used it and seem to like it. The description on the site looks good and very useful.

O.K. So I placed this order with the internet service group. $209.00 out the door on 1/8. This AM (1/11) I get an email from them saying that they couldn't clear my CC and please call, bla, bla, bla. I call. They apparently have some issue with credit card billing zip codes. I gave her my zip from 18 months ago and it went thru right away. WTF?? Buy a new zip database you idiots.

I told her they had to ship the handset overnight as a result of their delays in processing the order. We negotiated and she went to talk to her "supervisor". Came back and said Monday delivery. I told her that this was unacceptable and if they couldn't get it to my door by Saturday, cancel the order. I'm leaving for the week Monday, etc.

Ended up canceling the order and will check a store to see what they can do for me today. I should have additional discounts as my employer has pretty expensive (and extensive) data and voice contracts in place with VZW to the tune of several M/year. We'll see.

What a bunch of buffons! But, no worse than any other wireless provider.

Better luck to all of you.

Well, no joy at the brick & mortar. Apparently they will not match internet sales prices. I'll just stick to my 6700 for now and screw VZW out of the money I would have spent on the new handset.

Bummer! The XV6800 is MUCH better than the 6700 is. I know one of the managers at a local store (the main store in town where all the other area stores get their inventory from) and got a pretty decent deal on mine.

Either way, it is a much better phone.

Good luck getting one soon!
