Does anyone know how to do a hard reset on the phone?
I am also in need of getting hotmail and yahoo to work through my messaging feature instead of going through the interent? My xv6700 let me do both. I just got this phone today. Is there anyway to download MSN Mobile to this phone?
OK I recieved my XV6800 yesterday - and I loaded it up with most all of the programs I use (I updated a number SPB Diary SPB Pocket Plus Wisbar Advance 3 -Resco File Exp.)
OH yes I HAD to buy AE Button Plus!
I cannot see any use in OK button just minumizing a program it SHOULD close it IMHO
So far it rocks!
Next up buy a case or a holster

After owning this phone for a few days now, I have to say I am very impressed with the battery life. It runs circles around the battery life of the i760 with its extended battery.
I finally found the thead that said I had to go to settings and uncheck the confirmation boxes on VC phone and now it works fine. You just don't get the confirmation request. It just repeats back to you and you just ignore and it will call,

That lack of comfirmation is tough though. in the last two days I have called about twenty people I didnt want to speak to becuase it didnt understand my request.
I have had this phone since the 5th and will be taking it back to exchange for the i760 I had. Without a doubt this is the best phone Verizon has, but it is only the best in terms of its capablities, outside of that this phone is a failure.
I had the i760 for the 30 day trial period. I didnt like the fact that the call button was on the side of the phone and if you pressed it too hard the phone would slide. I didnt like the fact that the i760 didnt have built in GPS, and I did I mention the phone slid when you pressed the call button!?
However, the interface was magnificent! If I wanted to use the phone with one hand while driving I could. If I wanted to use the stiylus instead of the D-pad I could. Fact remains that with the exception of 3rd party programs which require the use of a stiylus, it was not required that a stiylus be used to fully operate the phone.
Now to the 6800...Can anyone out there tell me how to turn the volume down on the phone, wihtout using the stylus? Does it make any sense that rolling the slider on the side of the phone up and down doenst turn the volume up and down? What is the fastest way to look up a contact, without opening the phone or touching the screen? How about listening to music. Isnt it awesome how you have to have an adapter that flimsily extends the length of the phone by two inches (which can easily become detached spewing your Barry Mannalow to the rest of the world)?
I could keep going for days, but to some it up, this phone just isnt for me. Despite all the great things this phone has, the user friendliness just isnt kind enough for me. If I want to navigate my phone without pulling out and using a stiylus, I should be able to. For those who love the stiylus and dont use wired headphones to listen to music this phone is definitly for you. But for those who like the freedom to use their stiylus as they please and listen to music via wired headset, stay away from the 6800 like the plague!
There are TONS of other interface problems I feel the 6800 has but I will not go into them. They could just be my personal prefrence of how a phone should operate, but I believe the i760 interface is a lot more solid and user friendly than that of the 6800.
Its funny - I don't love this phone either - the sluggishness is the worst part of it for me (and I loaded in the fix that supposedly corrects this) but I do feel it's the best out there right now (on verizon).
The volume is too low - but I do like that you can lower and raise it w/ the side roller.. not sure what's wrong with that.
I find a few 3rd party apps - makes it pretty usable w one hand (although never as usable as a 1-handed phone like the treo).
I've had the phone about a week - and I can tell that eventually I will grow into it.. although I think I will always have a few issues with it.
I'm still on the fence between the vz 6800 and the i760. I'm a Palm OS treo guy for years and years. But it's time to move to WM. So I dont understand moniec's comments that the interface is different on the two WM6 phones?
Isn't WM6 the same on all the devices? So if you can use one WM6 device one handed another would do the same? Or if you could use the stylus on one wouldn't it basically do the same on another?
Are there giant differences or just little tweak bits between the differnt WM6 devices like changing the call volume?
The latter. On the surface, its probably easier for someone to switch from a treo to the 760 because of the hard keypad. However, the big button dialer on xda completely solves the problem, and provides T9, which the 760 keypad does not. To each their own, but IMO, some of the other comments (i.e. more sluggish) just aren't so.
I used a 760 for 5+ weeks before switching to the 6800, and do not regret it at all from either functionality or performance criteria. In particular, if you make use of bluetooth, the 6800 is far superior.
I have had a Treo 650 POS for the last 2.5 yrs. I have been waiting for the 755 from VZW forever. My son's phone is also 2.5 yrs old, and he has been looking at smartphones. He did lots of research on the Q9m, i760 and 6800. Went to VZW store on Sunday, decided not the Q, but really liked the 6800 and got one. i760s were out of stock.
On monday I saw BB circular had i760s, so I went and got one to replace the Treo. Thought its time to drop POS and goto WM!
After playing with i760 quickly decided that it wasn't for me. For me, the first use is as a phone, the i760 definitely beats the 6800 in that regard since you don't have to do anything to makecalls, it has the # buttons on the outside.
However, what I like on the Treo and missed on the slider phones is that I can do everything one handed. I don't have to open my treo to send a message. So I decided I would wait for VZW on the 755 some more.
On the other hand, my son really likes the 6800, except for one major issue: the phone quality is not good. I don't know if its just this phone, but we get better signal strengh from the treo and 760 than the 6800, the call quality is not as good, and the volume isn't good. So he is trying out my i760 and guess we will return at least one of these.
If anyone is having great call quality with 6800, let me know, maybe we just have a bad phone. More review info of 6800 vs. i760 to come.
at this point I'm using the treo mainly for pim and email. Phone is almost secondary. I can't recall the last time I dialed a number from the keypad- the vast vast vast majority of my calling is a contact who i probably don't know the number to dial anyway. My handful of friends and family that i call all the time are on the speed dial so I'm not too tied to a number pad. Even the numbers I know but dont call regularly (like say my inlaws house)- i typically dig through contacts to get to the number.
BUT Jbinbi's comment about needing to open the phone to send a message does have me thinking maybe i want to look at something more like the treo/q/blackberry style with the keyboard on it. (but seems some to have some fancy screen typing programs that make the keyboard not so critical for quick notes?)
I'm about done with the Palm OS (used it for 5+ years and it's still basically the same since they added color forever ago- doesn't multitask for spit- i'm sick of the phone stalling while it picks up email in the background)- so whatever i get will be WM6.
Has anyone noticed the "choppy bluetooth" all the sprint Mogul users are complaining about? The ROM version on the XV6800 is Ver 2.09, they are now on version 2.17

If by choppy you mean that audio cuts in and out, no I have not noticed that at all.
So would you say its a better device than the q9m?
It is totally subjective. Some people prefer the ease of use of the smartphone OS. Others like the ability to customize thier devices which the WM6 standard OS allows. Some like the thinner form factor and easier one handed use of the Q. To others its important to have a touch screen. From a performace standpoint I think the smartphone OS comes up a bit short, but thats me. Your best bet is to test them both out and decide which you like better.
