weather panel ... works on both phones ... but on the 6800 when it's installed, spb backup has "issues" doing automatic backups .. not so with the 760 ... not sure why ... but I had the same issues with the 6700 with wm6 as I do with the 6800 ... I DON'T have these issues with the 760
I have been using WeatherPanel and SPB Backup for quite a while on my 6700 and now my 6800 and haven't experienced any issue with backups.
Could it be something else you have installed on the phone?
I have a LOT of apps on my phone because I'm self-employeed and a Network Engineer. This phone responds faster than the 6700 did and feels better in my hand. Just getting used to where the buttons are now...
Over all, I LOVE this phone!

1) Ram-What is the total ram available on the 6800? How much is available on initial boot? Has anyone run out? Streaming music over A2DP, surfing the internet, doing email all at the same time, any slowdowns?
2) Volume-is it really that bad?
3) MicroSD-any trouble with it popping out? Not only is it not flush with the bottom of the phone, but there is no door to keep it in.

1) RAM is an issue sometimes, especially if you run a lot of stuff. On a hard boot, I generally have 22-25M of RAM available. After installing some stuff, that goes waaay down. Total available is listed at... 47.4. The current Sprint ROM, 2.17, is supposedly WAY better with memory.. so I suppose when we get that a lot of these issues will go away.
2) I have had no volume issues at all, and I didn't even need to do the hack.
3) No issues with the SD card flying out. It is tucked in veyr securely, and I wouldn't expect any problems with it.

I checked the 6800 out today at VZ and I have to say I really like it. My 760 has 54mg available and after reset you start out with about 30 and it slowly inches down to between 20-25 mb. When Im listening to music and surfing it goes down to about 9 or so. Its never been an issue. but if it drops down to 5 (with the difference in available RAM between the 760 vs 6800) it will start causing issues. This is the only thing keeping me from swaping because I really like the form factor. Its actually smaller than the 760.
OK I finally bit the bullet and was going to order online to replace my XV6700.
I could not get to upgrade in My Account - so I called in -
and Wow am I gald I did.
I got the Web price and 50$ rebate, and 2 100$ discounts also
so 149.99 was final price.
213 total now or so with whatever tax they add.
(then I will send in the 50 rebate)
not bad at all !!
Looking forward to it!

I had the i760 for two weeks and just got the vx6800, i have to admit, i like the keyboard and the feel of the 6800 over the i760.
Also, i think the unit feels more 'beefy' then the i760, the screen seems a little better and i've had no problems using the screen with my fingers, where with the i760 i would have problems with some of the apps.
What do i miss? well.... i missed voice command straight away but i purchased it and it works well (should have come with the wm6 if you ask me) and i also miss the numberpad on the front but i use the vc for all my calls now anyways.
What do i not miss, i don't miss the issue with the bluetooth having to pair to a device each time because i have bt in my car and a headset for my office and i don't miss the pain of having to remove the tab to plug in the sync or charge cable...
Anyways, both phones have their pro's and there con's and i would recommend that people try before they buy so that they are not disappointed with their purchase.

Regarding voice command. Can you please confirm that you have full functionality through bluetooth. Im seing people saying that its not working. If thats the case, its a deal breaker.
VC works well for me, with the sole exception of confirmations. But, AFAIK, that is a problem on all WM6 phones, not just the 6800. I didn't have a BT headeset when I had my i760, so I can't say for sure confirmations don't work on it.. but I'd bet they don't.

I do and the 760 confirms back just fine.
Considering how many times it confirms back to the me the wrong number, this could be a major issue.

No it's not working over bluetooth, everything works except the confirmation to the request - if you turn it off, then it works.
I only use the bluetooth when i'm in my car, so i just push the side button and say ' call xxx on cell' and then it tells me the name etc and i confirm it and then it connects over BT.

Use could also just use the built in voice tag, i used it for a couple of days without any problems and it only took me about 10 minutes, it tag about 20 contacts like wife cell, wife work etc.
The vc isn't the deal breaker with me because it will be fixed at some point but i just find the vx6800 a little better then the i760 i had.

Does the built in voice command work over bluetooth?
So, I have had this phone for about 4-5 days. My initial impressions are just OK.
A lot of my problems might be that I am not used to WM6 (I am a long time Palm phone user).
I find it is sluggish and laggy. That there is a lot of hang time between apps.
I also don't like that hitting the 'X' on an app doesn't close it - it minimizes it. But hopefully there is a workaround for that.
The volume is WAY too LOW. I also believe there is a hack for that.
For me - the screen isn't sensitive enough - I find myself pressing way to hard to get it to register - comparitive to the Palm.
The on-screen keyboard is comically small. (again I hear there is a better one out there).
I also find it very hard to use one-handed. That I need to either whip out the stylus or open the keyboard.. and again - I hear there are work arounds for that too.
My avail memory even after a soft-reset still seems somewhat small - but it could be because I have been installing and uninstalling a lot of test apps.
The threaded SMS - while very thankful of it - doesn't seem to integrate as well as I would like on this phone. I get multiple notifications on the same txt msg - or sometimes none at all.
Also - for some reason - I am not getting all the emails that come into my yahoo account on my phone - I am not sure why that is or how to fix that at all.
All that being said - I do believe that with some time - and a good deal of patience, I can make this phone work for me... It seems even more hackable than a treo - and I hope that I can eventually work through my issues..
I tried a blackberry 8830 for about 2-3 weeks and HATED it...
and if anyone wants to steer me in the right direction for some fixes on the aforementioned problems - it'd be much appreciated.
I'm not having any of the issues (bluetooth, memory leaks, hangs, voice quality, battery life) that were complained about with the old sprint rom, so experience seems to be confirming what they are saying. I haven't checked against sprint, but there are several numbers after the 2.09 in the version info. Perhaps they chose to designate the verizon rom fixes differently, because they were made pre-release?
Hi ebb
I finally got somebody at Verizon to listen to my I-760 sob story and they traded it out for the 6800 yesterday. My observations so far compared to the I-760 are that performance is much slower(everything delayed),worse quality bluetooth (static),less sensitive screen(better quality in daylight than the I-760), and definitely less volume in ear and bluetooth. I know you did not have these issues but I am not impressed with this phone. Is the rest of the Verizon community having these problems or do I have a bad phone.
