I'd say you are only 'screwing' them out of a loss on a headset. You're not hurting them by not buying a new headset for below their cost if you are going to continue to keep the same level of monthly service anyhow...

they're probably more than glad you didn't buy one.

Okay I fixed my Email alerts. I use wireless sync and you have to make an alert for Sync data. After that the alerts work even when the phone is in sleep mode. I also was able to add new ringers to the Alerts by droping mp3's in the windows folder but for some reson you cant change the Alarm ring tones. I figured out that the alarm tones are .wav files while the alert tones are .wmv files. I even converted the mp3 to a wav but it still would not work. You can drop mp3's in for the alerts but nothing seems to work for the .wav files but the originals. I would at least like to get a longer ring tone for the alarm. Anybody figured it out?

My first impressions were that this phone is AWESOME except for very weak call volume and a totally useless media player!
This fix helped the call volume:
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6...me-issues.html
and the free tcpmp player lets me play divx videos well enough to enjoy a full length movie.
I did have to tweak the player's settings to smooth out the video and to get the audio and video synched up, but at least tcpmp has options for fine tuning.

I have several video conversion programs to encode WMV, MP4, DIVX, etc and the built in microsoft media player chocked on anything I fed it. tcpmp wasn't much better with the default install settings, but once I started poking around in the options I was able to find a workable combination just by trial and error.
Options>Video GDI (to get rid of the choppyness)
Options>Settings>Advanced>Manual A/V offset+/- -500msec (to synch up the sound)

Now if I can just get the camera to capture a photo of anything besides a fixed object without blurring I'll be set. I would never expect a camera phone to take good pictures, but it would be a nice feature...

Thumbs up Had The i760 Now Have The 6800

Hello all; well out of the box; I must say I like the 6800 hands down.
There are some things that have to be taken care of which I have seen posted; that will solve it.
For starters answering the phone with my blu tooth.
But the specs which I compared side by side; the 6800
blows the i760 out of the water.
I like the way this phone can be switched from portrait to landscape
while it it still closed.
The way the phone locks when u open and close the keyboard.
The scroll wheel.
Ok I am right handed and when u open it up the button is on the left; but no biggie.
Also no hard numeric keypad but I really didnt use it that much on the 760.
I like the heftiness of the wand.
The i760 is cool but for my bucks I prefer this one.
Haven't played with the camera; but I will.
Thought about trying the smt 5800 after this one; but I like the touch screen
factor plus the bigger display.
Also just so you know I did walk into an AT&T store and looked at the Tilt.
It was nice; but like this one user commented stated here and I did verify.
They do not offer insurance on that phone.
If u loose it u are SOL my friends.
Also I did talk to folks about At&T vs Verizon.
Tell u what my room mate has an AT&T home internet connection.
Response time sucks.
If the PDA response time is anything like the home connection no thank u.
I like my screen to pop baby.
SO I will be checking here for fixes.
Both boards are cool for that the 1760 and the 6800.
So thanks everyone for the help; and I hope this helps with those sitting
on the fence.
Oh and if u are wondering I was also a MotoQ user. Another story; but one thing I can say about the Q is the thing is a tank. Meaning rugged
But 6800 baby all thw way...........
Oh and moderater I wont be offended if u make your changes here and there.

Does VZW not supply a 512 Micro SD card with the new handsets?

TIA,

I got my xv6800 for Xmas and I am really liking it so far. I was a Palm user before, so it is taking quite a bit to get use to, and I do miss the one-hand control you get from the Treo but overall I really enjoy the phone.

Here is my phone history....been a Palm guy up to this phone

6035
7135
Treo 650 -> 3 years
xv6800

One thing I am having trouble with....where do I check for firmware updates? My search-fu is weak

How do you install the Audio Hack?

I don't see AudioPara in the Windows directory. How did you install it on your VX6800?

Download Total Commander from this site install on either phone or sd card. Copy the audiopara file to where ever you choose. Start tcommander then click on the audiopara file and copy to clipboard then double click with stylus on the windows folder and press and hold on a white space in the directory and choose paste from clipboard here. Then enjoy the added volume.

I too "upgraded" From a Moto Q and love the touch screen. I also enjoy the 400 Mhz Processor along with the 250mb of storage. The onlyregrets are the alarm problem and the bluetooth issue. My H375 just disconnects in the middle of a conversation with no warning and I have yet to get the alarms to work with any consistency. I even downloaded the tweaks2k program which I baught and it still does not work. If anyone knows what setting to put the alarm on in tweaks that work pleas let me know. I have it on 120 and have put the option of full wake up on and off with no success.

My blue tooth head set is working fine. I have a plantronics 330. At first I had
problems but they seemed to work themselves out. I am able to answer my phone with my head set use my voice commands etc.
I know its not a big help but maybe some of the power users will be able to help. I don know that when I put a voice tag to a contact it starting working. Or maybe it just sinked. Probably a coincidince. I had the Q9m added a line to get the i760 wasn't sure. So I traded it in for the 6800 and love it. The extra line well I will hang an ole lg off of that and give to my 86yr old dad. So the extra line will go to good use. Will keep the Q as a b/u. If I loose the 6800 and have to wait for a replacement. Yes I do have the insurance..............

I have Total Commander installed - but I still can't replace the audiopara file - it is READ ONLY on in the XV6800's Windows folder. How do you get permission to delete or over-write?

Bluetooth head set volume is likely an issue with the headset rather than the handset.

I have a very old Plantronics 640 headset and it has plenty of volume. Crackling, and disconnects are likely to be handset or BT stack issues.

Good Luck,

Bob Duckworth

I have paired with 2 other Plantronic and one Motorola. They all are about the same. Not enough volume.

For those having Total Commander issues. You can do the file transfer with standard file moving commands used through "My Computer" or Microsoft Explorer".

Well - I would appreciate some instruction - as I mentioned - I am a real noob to all this and without and with Total Commander I cannot replace the file.

When I try from my desktop I am told I do not have permission

When I try from the XV6800 - I get error saying file could not be copied (or renamed, etc).

HMM - never mind - when I use the COPY/MOVE function in TC - it works. But - Copy/Paste would not work.

Thats why in my above post I said to "copy to clipboard", then "paste from clipboard here". I had to learn from trial and error myself. I just got Remote Desktop up and running and it works like a charm. Iam am definetly loving this phone. I just wish they would hurry up and send a new rom.

I jut got my 6800 and I really like it. I had to return the 760 as it was not compatible with Good (required for work). The only thing I don't like is the flashing green light. I've figured out how to turn off the other notifications but can't get rid of this. I'm sure it's shortening my battery life. Any ideas?
