Thanks for all the work! I've got Opera Mini working perfectly from the start menu and it doesn't ask to connect every time I start it. Now I just have to add a shortcut to the Touchcube.

Reason: Original post confusing
when making a shortcut with Jbed and the final mini 4, i'm running into an issue I think others are as well... There isn't a "JAR" file in the appdb folder for it. Is it not building out into that? I've got Jah files in there, and others. They say s0_ infront of them, however when I build out the direct links with the s0_, it errors saying no s0_suite is found...
Did the final version of mini4 not get compiled the same way as the previous versions in the appdb version??
Anyone have any luck making direct links with the final version an jbed?
having the same issue here. i was wondering why it kept asking me to upgrade. finally i realized i was still launching beta4. i cannot create the shortcut the same was i did for the beta. anyone figure this out yet?
Fooling around with this today and it like like it has improved from the past. Have it working but have not gotten the link to work, but I tried to use Total Commander. Guess I better try Resco Explorer.
Rather interesting as the secure pages from Bank of America work to a certain extent, including certificates, I got to verifying my site key after it recognized I was on a different computer and asked a challenge question, then it went into an interminable wait after I entered the correct password... I guess this is reassuring?
It took a little fiddling but I figured it out how to get this to work on the Kaiser. There is no need to install jbed.exe because it's already present on the device (I've got an at&t tilt specifically).
First getting the network messages to go away. You need to edit selector.utf and change the
Code:
domain=untrusted, \
to be this (I did this in notepad myself)
Code:
domain=tckmax , \
That's three spaces after tckmax. That was all mine required. Also while you're there note the root that is there the root=s?_ you'll need that for part 2
Second getting the link working. This is almost exactly as it's written in the tutorial. The one thing that screwed me up wasn't in the tutorial at all. your .lnk file looks like this:
Code:
28#"\windows\jbed.exe" -run s8_
There is no return at the end of the line, that's what threw me. In this example s8_ is replaced by what you found in the selector.utf file.
Guys I have been working on this for a few hours now because I didn't want my first post as a newb to be asking a question, but here goes:
I have the VX6800 and have the OperaMini4 working but I can not get it to stop asking for permissions. I have changed the selector.utf file with tckmax and have tried with everywhere from no spaces before the comma to 11 spaces and the only time I can even get it to connect is with the untrusted domain. All other attempts are netting me the error "The MIDlet could not be instantiated: java.lang.NullPointerException".
Any thoughts? Obviously all help will be appreciated!
Everything worked fine for the first time through, no hitches. It runs very smoothly and a lot faster than PIE. I love the interfaces too - find where you want to read and tap, simple as that.
One big question/issue though - Playing YouTube videos. I've got the latest TCPMP and all that, so that's not the issue. It's just that whenever I click on a link in Opera Mini it goes directly to the page and doesn't open the menu to 'Play Video - Save Video - Copy Link(whatever)'. Is there any way to fix this?

This currently cannot be done through Opera Mini. The TCPMP workaround for YouTube does not support Opera Mini.
Has anyone with a samsung i730 (wm2003 sp2-phone default) encountered a problem where they install jbed, and it doesn't function? Do i need an additional helper program? I used: http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/samsu...ED+MIDLET+I730
And there was no indication of any other helper programs needed to get the java midlet to function. I continue to get an error saying that 'jbed' is not a valid Pocket PC application. I copy the file to phone and run it from my phone and other than the warning that it might not display correctly the installation seems normal.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
I only have TCMP, and photocontacts installed. I do have the wifi fix installed. Otherwise I try to keep my phone clutter to a minimum.

I don't mean to hijack the thread, but if you have an i730, why haven't you installed WM5? My last phone was an i730 and it was much, much better with WM5. Jbed may not be ppc2003 compatible, but it is compatible with WM 5.
I was hoping to see if that was part of the diagnosis. I have not upgraded since my phone was still under warranty, and I have been more than satisfied with its functionality. I am likely to do that upgrade soon, but wanted to find out if the jbed was related to my OS or something else, as others seem to have indicated success sans upgrade.
The i730 WM5 update is an official update from Verizon. There should be no issue with the warranty since it's an officially sanctioned update. (that is, of course, unless there's something about it in the fine print, but i doubt that)

No you're right. It's an official update. Won't affect the warranty.
however, i still failed to get the net access thing done
i download the fix.exe file, try to edit the selector file myself, but in the end i still nid to click the option to allow net access....
I'm having a problem with esmertec. The bottom of the screen is not showing up. instead i am seeing whatever image is behind the screen (home screen, program menu, etc). This is very annoying as the bottom of most jar apps is not displayed.
quick question. how do php sites react with opera? i use a private torrent tracker for audio production sample trading amongst friends but the links from the site never work with the built in explorer. it just Downloads some junk .php file. will opera solve this issue?
I can't find a way to run multiple Java apps at the same time using jbed. I want to run both Opera Mini and the GMail client. When I try to start the second one (from the applications folder of the Esmertec jvm screen) it just switches to the currently running java app.
Am I doing something wrong or is this a known limitation?

I have the XV6800 and have the OperaMini4 working but I can not get it to stop asking for permissions. Sooo.....still no thoughts? I have been able to acomplish everything else on this phone, just not getting rid of the security things.
Jbed didn't install correctly. I do not have the icon on the program page.
(I believe it didn't install because I incorrectly specifed memory card program
storage.)
Then I mistakenly installed Mini on the built in Jeodek Java app. It did
install and sure enough, it has problems and freezes.
So my Q: How do I uininstall mini and re-install after fixing Jbed properly?
Short of rebuilding the whole phone? Can I just add it as an application
from the Jbed menu?
A second Q for mini users.... It did work with the built in Java. But there
were a lot of problems. 1) Hung; 2) didn't display log in screens correctly;
3) on websites where a selection was made (like wx on a map) the thing
acted like it was mirrored in both X and Y axes.... selection was wildly off.
Not too impressed. Comments?
Looks like there is plenty of program storage; it's the program running storage
that gets short. So I should typically put programs in the main memory
instead of the memory card where they don't run right?
Thanks. I've moved from total noob to having some capability due to this
list.
I downloaded Esmertec Jbed 20071119.3.1 into program storage
and did an install. Worked fine.
I could run the already installed Mini from that Jbed program icon.
No more crashing. But Mini seems to have a problem... it can't decide
if it's for regular full pages (that would be good) or mobile.
For example, going to Google one can select "classic" instead of "mobile."
But then, when selecting "more" form the list, one gets the list of options
for google mobile. Groups is not on it.
I cant log into a webmail exchange account. Doesn't seem to
recognize my password. So I judge Mini 4 only a partial success. It does cool
stuff but I can't get it to solve any real problem I have.
