If I want the black/silver pack am I supposed to remove Paul's dialer first? Or is the black/silver pack just a skin pack meant to be installed on top of Paul's dialer?

umm ok first to install. install pauls dialer first. then put the cab on your phone. Install, then it will prompt you to reboot. viola! (I'm expecting something to go wrong, because the smart dialer graphics are built into the Rom for some dumb reason. The new ones might not overwrite the old ones. if so, just post here and I will instruct further)

Second. This cab has the new dll which makes your landscape buttons bigger. read above for more info. So if you don't use smartdialing and use landscape mode, either A. don't install this. B. start using smartdialing, C. use portrait mode, or D. Post here and beg for me to make a landscape skin with the original size buttons.

Third. I don't know. I'm tired so I'm going to bed. Post here with any problems, questions, comments, etc.

After installing the skin and playing with landscape mode i totally see what you talking about now.. I would love a landscape dialer with the smaller buttons if possible.. Thanks Again. ReDz

have you already skinned the call status menu and i'm missing it? if not that would be hype if you would do that when you have some time.. thanks again for the skins..

ok. first off you need a couple of things.
1. dll resource editor. (pe explorer, resource tuner, restorator, xn resource editor.) -->> i think resource editor is free. res hacker is also free but doesnt work for this. others are 30 days demos. I'd go for PE explorer because it includes resource tuner, and also lets you check if your dll was signed correctly.
2. go here and download.
3. go here and download.
4. get phcanhtc.dll off your phone. or from a cab from either Paul's dialer or my black and silver one.
4a.unsign dll using download from step 2.
5. open up in resource editor. dialog 22509 is portrait.
6. change whatever you want.
7. save dll. and sign using download from step 3. you can use pe explorer to check to see if it signed correctly.
8. either make a cab with new dll. or copy dll into main directory on phone, and use resco explorer or total commander to move new dll to windows directory. overwrite when prompted. reboot.
9. see if it works.
10. jump for joy if it does, scratch head and debug if it doesn't.

there are tons of stuff on the net that explains it further. look on xda or buzzdev. don't do this if you don't understand what I wrote. of course if you do this, you'll have to make your own skins. you'll never make the buttons square, because currently they are 78x35px. i figure you at most could get maybe 7 or 8 more y pixels. (268-(35x6+11))/6 which would bring it 42 or 43 . you could disable the big buttons and go back to the small buttons, which would allow square buttons. i think the small buttons are 41x28px or something like that.

sorry for the vagueness, but this isnt something you should do if you dont have a basic understanding of 'hacking (persay)'

the progress screen? this has been discussed a few times in the post. sprint telus and altel suck and didnt include the dialogs for the progress screen in the dll. nor do they care about their dialers looking good, as even for the dialpad, it is not possible to have individual pngs for each numbers. so the best we can do right now, is make the progress screen background pretty and use the down button pngs to make it add some style. i personally think my silver criss cross transparenty pngs on the progress screen are pretty nifty. where in canada are you from? I use to spend boxing day to nye in toronto.

hmm, i'm pretty sure it can be done because in paul's skin the call status screen has the buttons with his font and blue colour. i was using another HTC Touch skin and those buttons were skinned on that screen. when i get home tonight i'll attach some screenshots to show you. i'm in winnipeg, direct smack in the middle.

That is EXACTLY what I am looking for and will gladly throw you a donation for your trouble….

I spent awhile on the site looking for a link but I only saw one from the Black and Silver dialer……..

I believe your looking for the Touch Dialer. eb posted this skin in post #82 (touch.zip). Is this what you were looking for?

linked again:

http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6...tml#post655902

I think Paul should add some of these additional skins links to the original post for easy reference on page 1. There hav been others posted that are nice also.

I think moderators should make this whole thread a sticky because of how important it is for Mogul users.

Could someone post a zip of all the images used in the dialer?

I like to give a go at skinning this and I want to make sure I save all of the images properly.

Thanks! So far, LOVE the dialer. And all the posted cover skins are great, but I'm OCD and Picky lol

I will of course post any skins I make for the sharing.

I posted my idea for my skin look, just need to know how to splice up and save the buttons, so an example set of custom buttons should do the trick!

Thanks!

I figured it out...

Next... Is there a way to create a CAB that will copy my images onto the device AND make the registry changes for text color and hiding the labels?

I am going to search on this, but just wanted to let you know the progress.

Memory Leak?

So I have a bunch of programs installed (too lazy to list) on my Mogul, and my girlfriend's phone (also a mogul) has most of the essential ones. Her phone was hovering with around 17mb-18mb of ram with PocketCM open after a few hours of use. Mine was about 15mb wiith PocketCM open after a fwe hours of use. After removing this dialer (she didn't have this installed) and playing with it after a fwe hours (opening and closing various programs including JAVA) and i'm still at 17 mb, it hasn't dropped to 15mb since. Is there a memory leak in the dialer?

Hello...
I am not sure about mem leaks.... but what do you think of PocketCM? I just had to uninstall it for several issues.... 1. Mem Hog 2. Once you have a phone call it keeps the PocketCM screen up 3. Switching from Portrait to Landscape mode takes forever 4. The virtual keyboard kept popping up.... When I installed NullKeyboard it made the SMS messages in Landscape mode all messed up... It's a shame because the prog is really cool....

Note on PocketCM, I had it for about 2.5 seconds then I got bored haha.

Back to the dialer... here is what I have put into action on my phone. I would love to share... should I just post a zip of all the images? or is the a way to CAB it, because i made some registry changes to hide the numbers and also to change the In-Call text colors.

Let me know what you think of the dialer. Also, I 'd be happy to take a couple request for the less graphically inclined!
