Paul, don't even know if its something you can do. But would it possible for you to add the dialogs (22500 and 22507) for the progress screen to phcanhtc.dll? I opened up tapres.dll.0409.mui, just to take a look around, and the buttons for the progress screens are small, and not even spaced out properly. I know that you're super busy, but maybe something for the longterm?
well i recompiled phcanhtc with the addition of 22500, 22506, 22507, & 22523. Got it to sign. But no dice (although I did change the landscape dial buttons to 78x35px. easier to skin now.) Can't manipulate the progress screen. bahh back to the drawing board
Still working on this. I have had little to no focus on the dialer since release, but would like to add the ability to skin the Progress screen.
You would have to add the resources to phcanrc.dll, sign it, .cab it, test it, etc. I think you are using the "Big Button" number version of them. You would have to create the resource using the resource numbers for the small buttons and change the button layout/sizes manually. Notice in my phcanrc, the resource number for the dialer layout is the original resource number for small buttons, just manually resized/relocated for large buttons. I haven't opened the files for this conversation, just working from memory. You may be using the correct ones....

Paul, What i noticed when opening up tapres.dll.0409.mui was that the dialogs 22509 and 22510 correspond to the gsm buttons (the non numeric buttons have different control #s) . The control #s for the buttons in the phcanhtc.dll actually belong to dialog 22515 and 22516. I guess they were copied over and renamed to 22509 and 22510? Similarly while I believe that 22500 and 22507 are the right dialogs for the progress screen, the correct control #s are in 22512 and 22513.
I've tried everything I can think of. For some reason i just can't get the progress screen to skin. In a light comparison of phcanhtc or phcanrc dlls used by gsm dialers to ours, the only difference I see is that ours have dependicies to core.dll aygshell.dll and tpcutil.dll while the gsm dialers don't use tpcutil, instead they use ole32.dll
I really like this with the true touch skin posted here!
However, I would love to see the paulyA style blue/green/red call history icons. The default/touch ones are very bland and dont give enough info with a quick glance. The all red, all green, all blue ones were very clear.
I imagine that wouldnt be super hard to do? I hope?

you could just download one of his cabs and use a program to extract the files to your harddrive. then just copy the files that begin with 'clg' to your windows directory on your phone. and reboot.
I just installed and I love it.. soo much better than the stock one... I did find one little bug. When I am in the dialer and I hit up on the dpad to go to the speed dial, the blue from the phone app shows up as the background for the numbers. attached is a screen shot. Is there any way to fix?

Thank you so much for all your hard work..
If you want to fix this, just copy the attached file to the windows directory on the phone.
They all look great, the bottom black one is a big improvement for people who like black. Kind of like the touch style but with sharper better colors and nice defined keys. I've been using a custom black one but that looks kind of simular but yours looks better.
The top one looks cool too, with the smaller numbers.
And the colors on the second one are nice too.
Like I said at the beginning I like them all, good stuff
Yeah I couldn't wait so I installed the black one myself, and it looks great with the Black and silver, I mean reeeeaalllllly good.
I made a png of the arrow and call history buttons if anyone needs them for using with the skin above, for thepeople who couldn't wait like me, hopefully that's alright with you eb3604 if not say something.

mehh i dont care. I'll try to cab the black one up tonight since it seems to be the most popular. I have some questions for you all.
1. Does anyone use the landscape dialer? When Paul resized the buttons in the dll, he based them off of the original touch sizes i guess. Anyway, the buttons for the portrait are 78x35px. The buttons for the landscape are 90x28. I went into the DLL and resized the landscape buttons to 90x35. It makes the buttons easier to press, and makes it easier for me to skin it. But does anyone care about this? Smart dial still works for landscape, but if people don't use smart dial and use landscape, the number dialed won't appear. (it will be beneath the erase button and blue window)
So I guess I could make 2 cabs, one with the regular landscape buttons, and one with the bigger landscape buttons. Although that would be a total pain.
2. The dialer's buttons and coordinates for their locations are in a DLL. In the one that Sprint uses, there is only coordinates for the dialer screens, not the progress screens. Read the above posts from me and Paul for more info on that. The layout for the progress buttons are small, and unevenly spaced. See below.
So I could A. skin the progress screen like it is right now with the touch dialer. Though the pngs for when you press down a progress key will be off and it will look weird. or B. I can use the actual coordinates and make the buttons their actual sizes. Like below.
Sorry this is really wordy. I'm just like that I guess. If it doesnt make sense just tell me and i can try to condense it.
alright kids, here is the black and silver dialer.
umm ok first to install. install pauls dialer first. then put the cab on your phone. Install, then it will prompt you to reboot. viola! (I'm expecting something to go wrong, because the smart dialer graphics are built into the Rom for some dumb reason. The new ones might not overwrite the old ones. if so, just post here and I will instruct further)
Second. This cab has the new dll which makes your landscape buttons bigger. read above for more info. So if you don't use smartdialing and use landscape mode, either A. don't install this. B. start using smartdialing, C. use portrait mode, or D. Post here and beg for me to make a landscape skin with the original size buttons.
Third. I don't know. I'm tired so I'm going to bed. Post here with any problems, questions, comments, etc.
alright kids, here is the black and silver dialer.
edit. my ocd is taking over. let me change 2 things and will repost it. give me 20 minutes.
Sounds good! Any chance you can throw in the paulya call history gif files, too? I know some people would like it in there by default ( I know I would love the have one less step!)
Edit: removed gifs in case paulya dissaproves.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! This is great. Is there anyway for me to change everything to just solid black, with no grey or highlighting or design. Just black and silver? I have no idea what I am talking about so sorry for the idiot question.

awesome job..hope other skinners join in and show their stuff also. personally, i am ashamed to post what i have done after seeing your stuff.
as for the landscape/smartdial issue...i agree, i really don't know why people would a.) use landscape for dialing and b.) not use smartdialing, let alone both a.) and b.)
Actually, I was wondering if it would be possible (when you have time) to do the same thing for PORTRAIT? I mean get rid of the top space that is only used if you disable smartdial and make the buttons bigger (more square and less rectangular). Is that possible with altering the DLL?

Well since Paulya made them, I'd have to contact him asking permission, I don't want to steal his work. Does anyone know how to?

Sorry I don't know what your asking. Do you mean the smart dialer graphics?

Well the whole reason I made the landscape buttons bigger was to match the dimensions of the portrait buttons. (78x35px) It makes it easier for me to skin.
