I uninstalled the original touch dialer and installed this one but the data arrows are grey when NO data is in transfer and white DURING transfer. Shouldn't they be the other way around and white during no data and grey during data?
Aside from that, I think it turned out great! Thank you so much for this contribution!
If you called somebody with a pic, it goes just left of the call history button. I didn't want to make any of my friends famous, so I called customer care.
so far its working great Paul. I threw together a quick skin. The blue was just bothering me. I figured if I was going to change the blue, I might as well go for it all. Now in no way is this perfect, my photoshop skills are average and this is the first time I've attempted to skin a dialer. the ocd in me is driving me nuts to perfect it. Paul, you have to find a way to get rid of the 'call history' text. I've tried everything and its driving me nuts. Again thanks for everything Paul. I can't wait for Kokkos to start skinning it.
Looks great - my only complaint / suggestion is to change the text on the buttons and the numbers to white - the blue is just not high-contrast enough, especially outdoors.
If there is a registry key I can change for this, what would it be?
Weird issue, not sure if it was the dialer, but that's the only thing I've installed in months.
I had my phone's screen off, in my pocket. When I turned it on the entire PPC was reversed in contrast, all the whites were black, and all the blacks were white, it looked like a reverse exposed picture. Extremely weird, I soft reset and it went away.

I also noticed this too! The dialer is also the only thing i've installed in months. A soft reset fixes it for me too.
Just this weekend I had to dial 911 from my cell phone and incase some of you don't already know, once you "dial" 911 whether you complete the call or hang up the phone, it becomes locked and you must reset it (not sure if the Soft reset works or if you have to remove the battery). You cannot dial any other numbers OR call 911 again!! This is a very bad feature seeing as I needed to dial it several more times and I didn't exactly have time to go through the reset process. Does anyone know how to disable this or is it automatic from Sprint/911? I am also told it tracks your location and there are several beeping sounds every few seconds after you end your call.
I did extensive tests with 911. The old/actual TOUCH dialer would break the 911 function on these phones, as the old TOUCH skin used a .dll that tried to contact 911 over GSM, which obviously it didn't support and the whole phone just locked up, coordinates never got sent, soft reset required, also takes 30 seconds for it to even connect to a 911 operator, etc.
With this compatible version of the skin, 911 does work, coordinates are sent, and when you dial 911 a new button pops up on the dial face that says "Exit Emergency Mode". You hit that button and your phone goes back to normal operation. <--Still haven't skinned the new Exit button, so it will not look good with the theme, but it works and who cares about looks when you are talking to 911.
You can feel confident that it will work with this skin. It ensures the Sprint version of the .dll is installed that handles 911 correctly on a Sprint network.
I have not tested this outside of Sprint and wouldn't recommend it for any other carriers at this time.

Yes, search for "MajorColor" it should turn up with instructions and discussions on how to do it. I will also be posting my skinning cheat sheet I created over the years that explain all the reg keys and values needed to make changes to the dialer and smartdialer. Probably won't get that out till next week. Lots of stuff happening this weekend.

Excellent skin! It really isn't that hard to skin and now that we have big buttons we can do cool things. Unfortunately Kokkos is leaving Sprint, they screwed him over, so I don't know how much skinning he is going to be doing for the big button dialers. So it is up to people like you. I will get the cheat sheet out and that will save you a lot of time testing and learning all the values, but I love what you are doing.

BTW I noticed a flaw with this skin. Once you dial a partial number on the pad and you use the double click feature of Smart Dial the skin doesnt change to the part where you can hit Talk, End, Speaker...etc...
Also if you go into landscape mode and look closely at the call history button it has the call history text on it.

Not sure if this is from uninstalling the old dialer, or installing the new dialer, but it looks like the registry tweaks for battery life are reset. So if you used them, you might want to recheck to see if they are still set correctly. I noticed my battery life wasn't as good today because of that.

Thanks - this worked great. The blue looks nice, but is difficult to read in sunlight.

I noticed you can change the text of the buttons but not the buttons Talk, End, Speaker, Mute....etc..
